hosting a it's best
I spent my birthday at Lebua and had the most incredible night there. I had booked a superior double room and was upgraded to a corner suite without extra charge, as they were entirely booked. The staff is very well-trained and it's a pleasure to enjoy this beautiful site. The breakfast is incredible, I've never seen that kind of variety in freshly prepared food before. The hotel elevator will take you directly up to the rooftop restaurant and the sky bar, from which you have the most amazing view. Public transport is in walking distance (5 mins to BTS Saphan Taksin) and the street life is vivid at night. There is even a Starbucks at groundlevel of the State Tower. Also, the startpoint for Khlong tours by boat is only a few minutes to walk!

Our last night of holiday
We thought we would treat ourselves to an expensive hotel as it was the last night of our stay in Thailand but we found it uncomfortable and impersonable. Due to the rain we were unable to enjoy the Sky Bar and any views from outside which along with the rain dampened our evening.
We ventured to the other bars but didnt feel at ease as we had done previously in all the other 5 star hotels we stayed in. We feel it was very overrated and lacked the necessary amosphere....too business like.

Hotel for the masses
Location is good, a few minutes from skytrain. Rooms are absolutely not 5* like, the lobby is very small and unstylish. Our suite (Balcony Riverside) on the executive floor had no TV in the living room area... The furnishing of the rooms is shabby. The bathrooms are not funky but well equipped. The food choice and the quality of the breakfast was good but the breakfast room is very busy and noisy. So, a very big hotel for mass tourism. You can book much nicer hotels in Bangkok for nearly the same price. Would not book again.

Stayed in this hotel when it was run under the Meritus group. Nothing seems to have changed, except that the furniture and furnishings are that much older. Lebua dun seem to have done anything to add value. The view from the junior suite was astounding. The only pity is that they have removed the TV from the adjoining room. Asiarooms told me that the two prices listed for junior suite on their site was 1) cheaper price for book now pay now 2) higher price for book now pay later. My invoice still stated Book Now Pay Later although I selected option (1). My card company confirmed that I had been immediately charged. Although the price was about USD810, I was charged the Thai equivalent and this was nowhere near the SGD conversion which they advised on the booking page. (Specifically, I ended up paying SGD33 more!) So what's the point, really?
