We loved staying at the Chedi and our time there helped to make our entire holiday in Chiang Mai very pleasant and very memorable. We arranged for a hotel car to pick us up at the airport and we were delighted to find a beautiful white Mercedes waiting for us when we arrived. On getting into the car, the driver handed us cool towels to freshen up with. That set the tone for the rest of the week!! Everything was luxurious and we loved it. We booked several of the excursions arranged by the hotel and, once again, we were driven everywhere in a Mercedes with our own driver and our own English-speaking guide (who happened to be the guide for Sylvester Stallone and Angelina Jolie [at different times] when they were each filming in Chiang Mai, and showed us many photos to prove it). OK, everything was a bit expensive but not unreasonably so given the personal attention we got everywhere. I should add that the hotel room was excellent, the hotel restaurant was extremely good and the hotel pool, although not huge, is beautifully designed and was great fun to swim in. To top it all we found a lovely Irish pub just five minutes walk from the hotel. So if want a bit of luxury during your time in Chiang Mai, I can highly recommend the Chedi. A final comment, Chiang Mai is totally different from Bangkok (which we didn't like). The people are lovely and are not trying to rip you off all the time.
