The hotel although very empty was very good in all aspects of what we required. The food at the various restaurants was very good and the service outstanding. The swimming pool is perfect for those who need to do some exercise I believe it is 70 metres long!! We would strongly recommend this hotel.
This is the best hotel I've ever been in ASIA! Amazing architecture, amazing service, amazing spa, amazing smiles everyday. The food is excellent and very creative, especially the Sunday brunch with the Jazz orchest.
A must have to do.

This hotel is amazing. I have never been to another hotel that put so much thought into every little detail. We stayed at many 5 stars hotels during our honeymoon in Thailand and this was by far my favourite.
The Chedi has a particular market for those who appreciate Colonial elegance and I liked the fact the restaurant was the former British consul (as a Brit myself). The club suite was large, with a great view of the river and excellent service.
I must also say, the concierge did an absolutely fantastic job for us, packing a week's worth of activity into our two night itinerary somehow, organizing everything at a relatively reasonable cost (by UK/Japan standards). We were lent very new mountain bikes free of charge to visit Doi Su Thep, the hotel was happy to recommend restaurants outside its own premises etc.
Can't think of many downsides except for one staff member in the executive lounge who clearly stuck out as someone who didn't like the Thai lifestyle but the rest of the staff were excellent. Overall very good!
Our stay was fantastic. The hotel is physically beautiful but more importantly the staff are great. The GM is around the hotel all the time and spends time with guests. Generally I dont like Chiang Mai but this stay has convinced me to return
