The Chedi Chiang Mai was a beautifully designed hotel with excellent amenitites in a terrific location. The staff seemed a little green, but made up for lack of experience with friendliness and charm. THe only negative was the inability to provide reasonable shipping for purchases made in Chiang Mai (and who wouldn't shop there!). They were going to charge $250USD to ship $30USD of stuff. Other hotels seem to have this wired. Our hotel in Bangkok shipped via DHL at a very reasonable rate.
The food was pretty good, if a little expensive, even for a nice property. the other dissapointment was that they could not sell us the fabulous spritzer they had by the pool in the same size bottles available there. The ones available for sale in the spa were tiny and again, expensive.
The exercise facility is totally top drawer. We were too busy shopping and site seeing to visit the spa, but I'm sure it was great.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights. We had a wonderful time. The exceptional service from each staff member touched our heart. The room is large (club suite) and all the little things that came with the room - laundry service, mini bar, wi-fi (if you don't have your laptop, they will lend you on at the concierge), airport transfers, made it extra special for our stay. The spa facility is wonderful. Both of us enjoyed a 90 minute thai massage. We'd definitely stay there again if we visit the next time.

Very contemporary hotel in a great location 5 minutes from the night market. Fantastic service and great food although wine list was very disappointing. Only other neagtive about the hotel was that rooms were a long walk from the main reception area and we felt very isolated. Lovely pool area and great staff, very friendly and helpful. Beautiful spa. Rooms were very funky with a great verandah area. Excellent tour giude called Om who was brilliant with my 6 year old and putting together tailor made tours. Was very glad we paid that little bit extra to stay here as it was well worth it.

VERY GOOD SERVICE. ONE CONCERN ONLY - WITH A 6 YEAR OLD IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SAFER TO BE ON GROUND FLOOR OR ONE LEVEL UP AS THE OUTDOOR BEDS/SOFAS ARE RIGHT NEXT TO THE GLASS BARRIER AND A CHILD COULD TOPPLE OVER IF NOT BEING ATTENTIVE.

As of end July 05, the hotel is still undergoing some renovations, so there may be some noise. However, the spaciousness of the premise, the beautiful room and the attentive staff more than make up for it. My only complaint is the mosquitoes, maybe the result of the rainy season. Having breakfast at the restaurant set in an old colonial building is also an unforgetable experience.

The Chedi is not cheap, but it is good value for money. The setting and service are impeccable, as expected. The location is not the best for those who want to be in the middle of town (it is about a 10 minute walk from the Night Market), but is ideal for those who want to be slightly away from the crowds without being totally isolated.
