Stay another few nts here in august, the internet fee drops to 600b per day. It is a good sign, however there is one coffee shop nearby providing free wifi. and many local internet shops around only costs you 10b/hr with buy 4 get another 1 free. swimming pool small but clean, fitness room gone. doorman service still good. at this price, I highly recommend it to every cm visitor.
Stays many nts in July 2011 with asia rooms pomotion.Though it is an aged hotel (10+yr) but still in good shape. nice staff , excellent daily cleaness, daily 5 times free shuttle buses to night bizzar, tops supermarket and local huge market are in walking distance. Many biz seminars /events in 2F ballroom .One major dawback is Intenet is pricy at 1200b/day, i wonder who will buy it and why the hotel still charge that.
I stayed here for two weeks right after song krat and I had a lovely stay! The staff were friendly and nice. I found it to be super neat and tidy. There is a supermarket next door which I went to every day for food and supplies.
The few negative things is the distance away from most of the popular sites were (but they have free shuttle bus to the markets and night bizarre every night), and the Internet was very expensive 100baht per hour. fortunately there was a coffee shop that had free Internet with a coffee next door. You may be lucky enough to catch someone's wireless from your hotel room :)
The pool is on the smoking level which smelt badly of ciggies.
Other people did complain about the old elevators and low showers. To complain about elevators? I didn't goto Chiangmai to worry about that! They weren't as old as someone else complained but the shower heads were quite low and I'm not even a tall person.
Don't let these small things deter you from having a good time in Chiangmai or at this hotel. I found it to be suer value for money compared to how much I pay for accor hotels at home.
Not the usual Mercure standard that you might find in the UK and the reason why we booked this hotel. The rooms on level 4 are really 80's. Like something you'd see in a Dallas episode. The location is a little out of where the action is (5-10 mins by Tuk Tuk) and I believe you could find better for your money.
The bathroom constantly leaked and the tub was unsafe when taking a shower. They charge for airport runs and charge for wifi and everything else that other hotels give free. I will stay else where next time.
Great value for money! The rooms are dated but everything was in good working order. The pool and gym were nice. Plenty of choice at breakfast. The staff were friendy and helpful. I would recommend the Novotel to anyone planning on going to Chang Mai.
This is my 3rd stay at Novotel Chinagmai. The breakfast is good as ever, and the staff polite and helpful. We booked a triple room. WE had to call Housekeeping twice before the third bed is made up. The portable third bed was of poor quality that the middle bit sank. My mother had back aches for two days when she returned from the holiday as she was sleeping on it. Otherwise, stay went well
All hotel personnels always maintained helpful and...
All hotel personnels always maintained helpful and friendly attitude in particular those of the restaurant and cafe.
However the telephone charges are a bit unreasonable commensurate with other Novotel Hotels or hotels of the same rating elsewhere in Thailand
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights from 5th Feb 2008.
We are long term travellers and have stayed at a huge number of hotels in the past 12 months. THIS IS THE BEST VALUE WE HAVE HAD FOR OUR MONEY - thanks AsiaRooms.com. We were 100 percent satisfied with everything that Novotel had to offer, room, bathroom, facilities and especially the international standard breakfast.
The location is a little outside the city centre and the hotel taxi service will try to charge 200 baht although they will settle for 150 baht. The real price, if you walk 20 metres to the main road and hail a Songthaew is 30 baht per person.
