Our time at the Tamarind Village hotel...
Our time at the Tamarind Village hotel was perfect. The hotel has a terrific location. A short walk from the hotel will put you in a perect location for shopping, finding good food, or a relaxing coffee break at the nearby Starbucks. The staff went out of their way to be friendly. The room was clean and the bed was vey comfortable. Cable TV had many channels to choose from. The breakfast had many choices and the coffee was fresh and hot. The Sunday Market uses one of the streets in front of the hotel and you can enjoy an evening of browsing the market without going far from your room. I look forward to my next time in Chiang Mai and will use this hotel as my first choice.

We stayed at tamarind Village twice in...
We stayed at tamarind Village twice in June 2008. The staff are welcoming, the delux lanna room was clean and quiet with a private balcony. The breakfast was top quality, and the attentive staff make sure that the buffet is replenished. A great spot in the old city. Perfect for the sunday market and walking street right outside the gate.

Polite friendly staff speaking excellent English; Great location along main street in the inner city. If you can, stay here on a Sunday, so that you can enjoy the brilliant Sunday market, which I thought was better than the night bazaar! Plenty of creepy crawlies at night though, and we could hear the chorus of the frogs/crickets outside. But I would most definitely stay here again. Go to the spa on the last day, cos they will give you a one for one voucher on the last day!

OUR FIRST CHOICE WAS RATCHAMANKA, BUT NO CHILDREN ALLOWED THERE SO THOUGHT WE'D TRY THE 'SISTER' HOTEL AND WE WEREN'T DISAPPOINTED! WONDERFUL PLACE! CENTRAL LOCATION YET QUIET. IN-HOUSE RESTAURANT: GOOD FOOD, GOOD VALUE

I enjoyed staying at tamrind village. ...
I enjoyed staying at tamrind village. It's a a very peacefull place to stay. However, I did not think it was worth the amount we paid...mainly because the beds were not the most comfortable. It had ditches in the center and could not be fixed. Tamrind village should update the beds. We had a triple, so the roll in bed was even worse. If the beds were more comfortable then my stay would have been more pleaseant. -SV

My friends and I spent a great...
My friends and I spent a great week at Tamarind Village. Staff were friendly and helpful at all times. The afternoon/evening wait-staff in the restaurant made a few errors but nothing to grumble about. Meals were very good and reasonably priced; however, wine prices seemed quite steep. Its location provided easy access to the night markets and other places of interest. Hotel excursions were reasonably priced and made the adventure easier. The Sunday market was right outside the door, which was very convenient, but couldn't be heard at all when we wanted to retire early. We were a little nervous about the number of mosquitoes on arrival but the hotel were quick to spray our rooms when requested. We had massages in the hotel spa and the staff made us feel very at ease with the experience. It was a welcome relief after riding the elephants! We booked the Lanna Deluxe which was on the second floor and were quite happy with the room size and amenities. For those of you that appreciate a strong hot shower, you may be disappointed (you don't really need one), but it was much better than experiences in London and Paris. All in all, a very nice place to stay in a city that surprised us by its cleanliness. We also appreciated the wireless internet access.

This was our second visit to the Tamarind Village. Great location in the old part of the town. Gracious staff, small enough to feel that you weren't just another visitor. Great service, nice Lanna style rooms and not a mass produced feel to the whole place. Lots of tour places and restaurants close by plus the walking market out side the door on Sundays. Highly recommended.
