Nice hotel in heart of city. Quiet peaceful surroundings. Good staff and helpful. Our room, was small, dark with no window view and a bit clastrophobic. Eventually I got used to it. The free breakfast was OK but never changed and the bread was poor.

The food served at the restaurant was reasonably good. The service staff was very attentive and accommodating. However it would help if the breakfast spread could vary each day. The free internet access was great except that with only two computers, sometime it could be a long wait to use them.

Lovely hotel, full of characters, authenthicity and traditional building which makes a change from all the modern hotels we see today. On Sunday, the evening market is just situated outside the hotel and amazing stalls which seem endless on the street which is closed to traffic from 3pm. This is where all the locals come. Not far to walk to the daily evening market which is meant for tourist rather than the locals. Nearby are a couple of resturants worth visiting with great food and value for money, information from hotel. Staff are always polite and friendly and nothing is too much for them. Lovely having breakfast looking over the pool. Overall we had a great time.

I absolutely enjoyed the friendly and cozy ambiance at Tamarind Village Hotel Chiang Mai. The staff of hotel makes you feel relaxed and so welcomed. Food in the hotel restaurant was above expectations. After you are well rested you can venture out and explore the magic outside of the little oasis. Fortunately, you are already in the middle of old city.

We stayed at the Tamarind Village in...
We stayed at the Tamarind Village in May/June 2007. The hotel is very well-situated in the middle of the historic city and very quiet ! The room was just good, the pool perfect and the staff very nice. The breakfast in the morning at the pool is fantastic ! I am sure it will be very difficult for you to find a better hotel and so well-situated. We definitely will stay again at the Tamarind Village if we return to Chiang Mai and recommend it strongly to the people that are looking for an upper-class hotel not too expensive.

If you’re on a weekend get-away and...
If you’re on a weekend get-away and you’re looking for a quiet, beautiful, mellow, romantic hideout, this is a gorgeous place to land. The hotel is absolutely serene and lovely, the staff are very helpful and courteous. The room we had was cozy, a bit on the small side if you had a lot of luggage or like to lounge in your room, but fine for the two of us. We loved the soft, comfortable mattress and linens. If you are not traveling as a romantic couple, the room and bathroom configuration may pose a lack of privacy, but we were absolutely fine (no door to toilet). The location is off a main road in the Old Quarter/Waller City. If you are looking for a hotel in the middle of the action – bars, the Night Bazaar, this is not it. But we had no problem taking tuk-tuks to the main activity hub – about a 7 minute ride costing an average of 50 baht. For the money, we were very happy with our weekend at the Tamarind.

What a lovely hotel. We stayed...
What a lovely hotel. We stayed for three nights and the friendliness of the hotel really shined through. Room good size. Bathroom excellent and looked quite new. Had a cement floor which was strange at first but was actually quite nice as i think it helped keep the room cooler. Grounds kept in excellent condition. We even saw a models photo shoot, it was that nice. The only problem was that it is too far from the night markets to walk, so we got the red bus each day. Apart from that we would not hesitate to come back to this hotel.

Lovely romantic setting. Not really for kids, although we brought one and he was fine. A bit pricey but a great location and a real bit of peace in the middle of the city. Close to everything. Upscale although the breakfast buffet was not impressive. The pool is lovely, and worthy of use after a day of exploring. The rooms were kind of small but that is a bit the style. And it is very stylish, with candles all over in the evening. The bamboo arch drive entrance sets the stage. A good base for exploring Chiang Mai.
