Our Stay at Eurana, Chiang Mai
Eurana was hard to access with a car. We'd driven a long hard day from another country so it was late. The location wasn't easy to find...we found the hotel by 'accident' down a laneway. Parking is available but you have to drive down narrow lanes to get there--squeezing between cars parked on the side of the lanes. We specifically asked for the room in the 'new wing' (following a recommendation from a review). We were allocated a room in the new area but the tap/pipes had made a mess in the bedroom. Hand wash basin located in bedroom and this was leaking under the sink. I think this wasn't a "new leak" -- there was brown copper coloured water on the floor. The attendants wanted to "mop up" the water but as you walked on the tiles the dirty water sqeezed up from underneath making a mess! We asked for a similar comparable room. Were told the hotel is full and would have to stay in that room. ( I don't think the hotel was full--there was very little activity during our stay there--very quiet at all times). We asked for a free upgrade because of the inconvenience but again received a negative response. In the end, we were allocated an 'old room'--which was better set up. Washbasin in bathroom. No leaks. Good shower with warm water. We didn't eat at the hotel--choosing to eat at the many surrounding cafes. Good coffee just down the road from the main entrance. For the quality of the stay, the "discount price" is steep. Would not stay at Eurana again. But would stay in the area in another location. Coffee shops, cafes, etc. are plenty and the 'village' is attractive for Thailand. Definately not a romantic retreat.
