The location is excellent but the decor of the rooms was distinctly sub-standard. We had booked a junior suit and were glad to have done so - Initially we were mistakenly allocated a standard room which seemed very small and bare. Having said this, the staff were friendly and helpful during our stay.

Staff are very friendly and helpful but need more knowledge about city informations. Hotel is convenience, room is clean by fast service of Housekeeping.
Coffee shop is big and comfortable. Food are tasty even not much choice for breakfast.
Overall, the hotel is nice for business and relaxing up to our expectation.

I stayed at the Royal lana for 4 nights and it was quite good.The room maybe needed a new coat of paint though it was big and the service very friendly. The pool needs a bit of work but its good for the money,also the breakfast was nice. Theres no hassle about extra guests too. I would stay again for sure.
They did not provide any transfer service...
They did not provide any transfer service from airport or to station. Only provide this for tour groups. They were not too helpful giving advice on altenatives when I phoned. Breakfast could have been better - bit boring after a stay of 3 or more days with no variety from day to day. (River Quai hotel in Kanchanaburi has excellent buffet breakfast)
Apart from this staff were ver friendly and helpful (as is usually the case in Thailand). Very handy location near night market area.

It's good value for the price and at a very convenient location. Step outside and the dining and drinking areas are just right there. Roomsize is ample and cleanliness is OK. Lots of channels on TV and the fridge comes in handle. Hotel staff is helpful though English is a premium in Chiang Mai as a whole. Very accessable to the Songtheaw clad Warorot Market and Night Market. Can't go wrong with this one. However, it's time this hotel change their mattresses and towals, and upgrade the shower system. Breakfast could do with a facelift and more regular replenishment.

This hotel was okay. Had a good breakfast. Pool was nice, though no extra towels. Not extremely quiet, we could hear some bad karaoke all night long. Good location for the night market. Overall, not bad.

Stayed here for two nights in Feb 05. Location couldn't be better. The photos of the rooms they've used don't do them justice - the room I had was really big and clean, and was nicely decorated in a contemporary style. The windows are massive, and as someone else mentioned the views over Chiang Mai and the mountains beyond the town are amazing - you should see the sunsets.. The Royal Lanna hotel is fantastic value for money and I would highly recommend it.

Large clean rooms with marble flooring. Took 20 mins to check-
in due to booking mistake made by the staff.
Do not leave anything behind at the Royal Lanna as you would unlikely to get the item back. We left a nylon jacket on bed (must have gone under sheets and bedcover) when we checked-out. However when we came back to hotel after 2 days in Mae Hong San, we reported the loss to front desk. After few minutes they rang back to say.nothing was found!

As mentioned, the location is excellent. The hotel has all the normal facilities, good staff, etc.
While I was there in early January 2005 they were still building the "glass-elevator", which I guess once built will add some prestiege to the hotel, is money that should have been used to "update" the rooms.
I got a almighty jolt from the bedside lamp which left me wondering about the state of the hotels electrics.
PS The breakfasts are as good as most decent hotels.
