Our stay at the Rachamankha ranks among one the best hotel experiences I've had to date. We arrived in Chiang Mai at 7:30 am via an overnight train (we wanted the train experience which I would recommend if you are so inclined) from Bangkok and were at the hotel shortly thereafter. Of course we were there well before normal check-in. Our reserved room was not yet ready, but they immediately put us in another room (superior room) to rest and freshen up until ours was ready. The superior room was perfectly fine, but the deluxe room was well worth the additional cost. When we returned later in the afternoon from the Oasis Spa that is a couple of blocks way, the staff had already moved our baggage and set us up in our deluxe room. Breakfast was included as was one dinner. This was a surprise as the Asiaroom booking stated that no meals were included. I believe the Hotel did this simply because we were in a deluxe room. The Chilean Sea Bass could not have been cooked any better. The food was excellent and the staff even better. The designers built it from the ground up and I feel they accomplished exactly what they were after. A beautiful, serene, elegant setting in a meditative temple-like atmosphere. There is no way you could possibly be unhappy with this experience. If you plan shopping for locally produced crafts, furniture and the like, I strongly recommend you hire a driver and car for the day. The front desk can arrange it for you and we had a wonderful driver named Noi (female), who did far more than just drive, as she was also our interpreter and assisted us in coordinating for all our purchase to be custom made and later shipped back to California.
As for Asiarooms.com, I highly recommend their service and have full confidence in their bookings. I have to admit that I felt I was taking a chance as I had never heard of Asiarooms before and was unsure of its legitimacy. I plan on using them exclusively for all vacations to Asia. Their price for the Rachamankha was far less than Expedia and all other well-known sites.
If you want peace in a simple, elegant beautiful environment, this is the place.

P.S. They offer unlimited Internet access (DSL) for free! This was a first for me.
