my stay t m carey from uk
I have traveled in Thai for many years and been to Chiang Mai before , this hotel was not as bad as the last one Royal Lanna , that hotel was the pit's.
The Lai thai is very basic the first room the bed was like sleeping on a pile of old wood that moved all the time when sleeping so hard it was like sleeping on a rock made my back ache, so i asked to change room's the secon room was basic but at least i could sleep.
The staff had a really not botherd attitude i had to ask for my room to be cleaned, the first hotel i ever stay at in Thai that i have to pay for water in my room and first time charge for using debit visa card, on check out i had to ask for my change but the staff still short changed me, i just put it down to experience in the end. as said could not understand me, as Thai seems to do when don't want to talk to you.
2nd time around
I have stayed here before and chose it again for several reasons. Firstly the price is right. Second it is very well positioned to walk about town and lastly it has a nice swimming pool. Downsides ae the rooms are a bit pokey and can be a touch noisey if you are a light sleeper. That said I will go again for sure.
My personal views of Lai-Thai Hotel & Guest House
The price of the room is reasonable. The room is clean, have all the basics, such as attached toilet with hot water shower, air con, and a refrigerator. If they can add a electric kettle it would be perfect for me.
There are no shampoo or body soap provided only 2 small cake of soap for my three nights stay.
I found the staff very helpful and knowledgeable.
The Sunday Market and Night Market are within walking distance.

I booked this hotelthrough asia rooms asit was cheap and central. After my week i ended going back for another week when i eas joined by my wife nad her friend.
Hotelstaff are all friendly and always plesant. Extremly helpfull at all times. When i phoned to book for the second week they arranged free airport pick up for us.
Would recomend this hotel, it is cheap and really good value for money

Great location and very cheap - but...
Great location and very cheap - but if you had spent all that airfare money coming to Thailand does it make sense to stay in a $30 a room place? Next time around I would spend double or treble that amount.Good for those on a very limited budget and you get what you pay for. Great chef though - recommend the food+ the cable T.V was a nice touch.

Good location - near the old city and 10 min. walking from the night bazaar.
The room was clean, the bathroom was small but clean.

The hotel appearance looks nice, but room is small with very simple bathroom. The bed and floor is noisy with every touch and the swimming is very smelly with disinfector. And when I checked out,they asked me to pay for the safety box which I have already paid last evening, but they have no record. The location is good, near to night bazar and sunday market. Good for budget travellers but not good for holiday.

Overall I found that this hotel suited my requirements too a tee! The food was tasty and great value as well as the drinks. All the Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. My compliment to one particular waiter who took the trouble to show me one or two other Watering Holes in the city and who's name I cannot remember. The location is within easy walking distance of all the city atractions.
However The room I was allocated needed a little more care and attention. They are Tradtional yes, a little small and dingy but this may be due to 4 out 6 lights not working. Plus a couple of loose bathroom fittings. Yes I will stay again.
