Nice boutique hotel
I stayed here after a recommendation from my brother and his wife and also the reviews I red from AsiaRooms.com. The hotel is very nice as well as the lovely staff who were always excellent. We stayed in two really nice rooms. Breakfast was good but the food from the room service was not very good. The hotel location is about 10 - 15 minutes walk to night bazaar. I would recommend this hotel to anyone specially couples.

Keep this one a secret!
This boutique motel has to be the best quality.low price place I have ever stayed. It is central to everything, we walked to the night bazzar and markets. You do not get hassled from anybody and the staff , although they do not speak a lot of english, are exceptional. Our room was the Junior suite and it had beautiful decor and lovely pool views. We were not impressed with the food as we were served frozen ham, stale cornflakes and old vegetables. Therefore we chose to eat out. Not happy that the sink in the bathroom had no hot tap, very difficult to shave with cold water. We would definately stay again as the seclusion and lack of children was a real plus for us..dont pass this one bye. Do not use the in house spa service as there are plenty of cheaper ones around. The laundry service is fantastic!

A peaceful sanctuary
Our taxi driver had some trouble finding the Manathai Resort as it is tucked away in a small laneway and there's a real sense of peaceful isolation from the world outside. It's a very small resort, but pretty inside with lots of flowing water and rooms filled with ornate Lamma furnishings. The staff were wonderful with our active 2 year old and very friendly. Khong and the others on the tour desk were great. I'm not sure if the rates we paid were competitive or not, but the friendliness and level of their service was such that I would be happy to recommend them. The huge baths in the rooms would take a long time to fill so we gave our son showers instead. Very satisfied with the experience.

A very cosy hotel where they do everything to make you feel at home. Very open structure in lobby and bar, typical Lanna Style with dark wood as well in lobby as in rooms. Every room has its own private terras which makes it very enjoyable. Very open and friendly people

We chose Manathai after reading other guests'...
We chose Manathai after reading other guests' comments on this resort, and we must say we totally agree with them! Nice, quiet, with a tropical atmosphere, and yet very close to the noises and attractions of the town. Staff were all, and we really mean all, very friendly and kind. We could write more and more about our experience in Manathai, but the best thing we can say is.... Try it, it's worth, definitely not the usual hotel stay in a big town, more likely a beah resort experience. Oh, by the way... We also agree with other guests about the difficulty to balance the heating of the water in the shower, but, after all, we weren't looking for perfection....

Manathai was great. We stayed there for...
Manathai was great. We stayed there for two days intially and then went off elsewhere and came back and stayed for another twelve days. This place is lovely. The location is a quiet back street that is near both the night markets and the Tapae gate for the Sunday markets. Both are just a five minute walk in either direction. The hotel is an oasis in busy Chiang Mai. You actually get a sense of relaxation and peace and quiet once in the complex. The staff were incredibly helpful and polite. We accidently left our stuff in the security box on our first stay and we rang a few hours later and they had already got it and safely put it away in their main safe. So honesty was not a problem! There is also a security guard on duty and he was always smiley and polite and looked out for us. The rooms are each decked out with different features. Our first room was right next to the pool. It was a smaller room with the bathroom where you walk through the shower (read other reviews) but to be honest this was something we thought wsa fun and different and not a big issue. The second room was a bit away and around the corner and a fair bit bigger. The housekeeping was excellent and the girls tidied the room beautifully. Breakfast was fine. They make a choice of omellettes, eggs etc in addition to the usual toast, fruit, bacon, thai choice etc. Room service was a bit pricey but on the few occasions we did have it, it was lovely. The pool was small but nice. This hotel would be ideal for honeymooners or adult couples who don't want to be in a large hotel surrounded by screaming kids and drunk tourists. The place is fairly quiet in terms of night life so if you expect a hotel to entertain you with bands and nightclubs then one of the other ones might be more appropriate. The free internet and wireless access was great. Altogether a really nice place to stay, relax and have a bit or a more "upmarket - luxury - boutique" experience at a fairly reasonable price. Would we go back again? For sure :O)

My husband and I stayed at the Manathai for 4 nights and loved it. Although the hotel was fully booked, the staff were extremely attentive and polite. The breakfast buffet was nice and included local dishes as well as the traditional breakfast fare. The swimming pool area was very cosy and once again manned by attentive staff. The rooms were nice and large and the airconditioning system worked perfectly which helped during the extremely hot season we happened to be there. The only complaint we have is that the hot water in the shower was temperamental but we are sure this can be fixed. There was free wireless internet plus a small computer/reading room which is always an added bonus when travelling. The Manathai is situated a short 10 min walk through the back streets to get to the main street so it was a quiet refuge from the noise of downtown. We would definitely book Manathai again for a future visit to Chiang Mai. Melanie & Peter Andersen, Kuala Lumpur

On the whole, if you value privacy and quietness this hotel will favourable. But the room which we booked was a junior suite but it did'nt do justice. It was rather small and tight for my liking and there were'nt much table space to put things. Location was excellent in the Tapae Gate area to Night Bazaar, and Chinatown areas for cheap hawker food and shopping for cheap attire. Good for walkabout within this hotel area.

Just a gorgeous, centrally located, quiet and superbly furnished hotel experience. We are don't usually travel this luxuriously and found it a wonderful experience. the price we got on Asia Rooms was 1/4 the cost of the listed price at the front desk for a Junior Suite! The greeting, drinks, food, service, and facilities are beautiful, including poolside food and drink service. We travelled during the Songkran New Years festival and it was a lovely 5 minute walk to the Night Market and a 10 minute walk to our favorite Riversite Cafe, with Tuk Tuks available right at the end of our street. Definitely book tours to ride elephants at the tourist desk in the hotel and ask for Mr. Tee, with his fantastic air conditioned luxury car and excellent English and helpful shopping suggestions.
