We had booked a deluxe terrace room...
We had booked a deluxe terrace room which was lovely and large. They even had a spa in the room which was a surprise. The only down side with the rooms was that the bathroom were very small with no shower curtain around shower so the whole area would get very wet, and the clearance for head height into the bathroom is very low so anyone taller that 5ft5 - watch your head! Also being on the terrace there are no elevators so you will need to walk the flights of stairs. But its not too bad. So if you are not keen on that one of their hotel rooms may be more suitable which also look very nice. Breakfast was provided buffet style. With a generaous selection of american style, asian hot food and the regular toasts and fruit. Service was always with a smile. If you don't like being directly in the hustle and bustle but still looking for something that is walking ditance to the night bazaar - the hotel is perfect. It takes approximately 10minutes to walk to the night bazaar area. The pool are is small but very nice, and right next to it lies a large gym. Overall the hotel was great and it is also a good idea to bring Mosquito repellant too if you stay in the Terrace suites as mosquitos tend to lurk in the stairs.

Walking path from night bazaar is dark...
Walking path from night bazaar is dark after 9pm. But it is easy to catch a THB40 tuk tuk from bazaar back to hotel. Power supply is unstable, it went on & off during our last night which was pretty scary for us (2 girls). The torch provided in the room needs battery replacement. The slot to power on using the room key is not sensitive either as we encounter problems too. Sound proofing system is not good either as we can clearly hear our neighbours watching TV till late hours & when they open their doors, it seems like they are opening our door. Finally, the only good thing about our stay is the lady boss, Minh. She operates the travel agency (Thai British) located at the hotel annex. She is really nice and helpful(sent & pick us up @ a shopping centre & refuse any payment). On our last day, she even got her staff to send us to the airport and only asking us to tip the driver at our free will. She sure made our stay better and we will definately visit her again if we go Chiang Mai even if we intend to stay at other hotels.

Initially, we booked the larger terrace but felt that the lack of lifts affect the convenience of the old folks and children. The terrace rooms are also a bit gloomy and away from the swimming pool and breakfast restaurant. With that, we decided to pay and upgrade to the much smaller rooms in the main building hotel. Buffet breakfast was good with a good spread but not if u are staying more than 2 days. Except for one male staff, the rest of the staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel Japanese restaurant provides good value food. Pool is very cold throughout the day, it will be good if it can be heated. Rooms are tiled and not carpeted but clean. Location is quite ok to night bazzar but far from night weekend market. Overall, a very pleasant stay and good value to this new hotel.

Expect 1 star hostel accommodations at 4...
Expect 1 star hostel accommodations at 4 star hotel pricing. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in CM. Here are a few reasons... The website informs you that there is no elevator in certain buildings. It does not tell you there are no bell boys to assist with your luggage. I had to carry all my luggage up and down 2 flights of stairs. The bathroom sink was never cleaned during my 10 day stay. I finally did it myself half way through. There is no shower curtain causing soaked floors each shower. There was no toilet paper in the room one day. My flight was nearly missed as I stood waiting at the front desk. The breakfast buffet was normally out of several items an hour and a half prior to service time ending. No wash clothes are provided. The windows were easily accessible from the outside and did not lock. I have stayed in three hotels in CM and this is the only one I would not recommend. There are many great places for your money.

My husband and I thought that we...
My husband and I thought that we were getting a bargain at the Maninarakorn as the photos looked very appealing. We could not have been more disappointed. We chose a 'superior terrace' only to discover that the 'terraces' were an old block of renovated one bedroom apartments surrounding the carpark of the main hotel building. The room was big and freshly painted, however it was old, had exposed plumbing, a separate hot water heater, a loud ceiling mounted A/C unit and no alarm clock. These rooms should be clasified as 'budget'and I would certainly not recommend it to a couple looking for a nice, romantic holiday. We asked for an upgrade and we were advised that this would not be possible as the hotel was booked out. My husband went down to the reception to cancel our booking and met another guest who had something 'disappear' from his room. The staff speak a very poor standard of English, were unsympathetic and the breakfast was also disappointing.

This is a well located hotel. Relatively new and for the price of S$57 per night, it is definitely value for money. I know the breakfast choices are limited but they are good enough to fill a morning stomach.I liked their freshly fried eggs, the occassional fried rice & fried mee..mmm..yum.. We stayed in the terrace superior which is the cheapest of the rooms. To complete our stay, we bought a National hairdryer and 2 pairs of slippers for a mere total S$16, which can be recycled for our next trip. Now for the minuses, yes there are no lifts to the terrace units, but the climb up the stairs are no hassle for our 2nd storey unit. I really would recommended Maninarakorn to anyone who is looking for a nice cosy hotel where the service is good, the staff friendly and is safe to go back to each night.
