Really liked the Portico 21 when I stayed in Chiang Mai for a few days. Super clean. very helpful staff. Nice room. This place is of the modern contemporary feel and they do a good job of it. If that is your thing, and you're looking for a very reasonably priced hotel, I can't recommend this place enough. Dang and her staff were wonderful and if I stay another night in Chiang Mai, I will definitely go back to this hotel.
The hotel has no elevator, which to me was no big thing, especially because they whisked my bags up to my room without me even asking. There is a new building next door which means that the rooms might have a compromised view, but I upgraded to a superior room on the end of the building and had a lovely view. When you enter the room, the key turns on the power and the electricity. I like this because it's very eco-friendly. However I was on the top floor which got quite hot and it took awhile for the room to cool. I would recommend the 3rd floor or below.
But most of this is just giving a full review and telling you the good and the bad. There was so much to like about the place that I do absolutely suggest you go see Dang the manager at the Portico.
