Location and service levels of Banthai was good. The staff could communicate relatively well in English. The ambience by the pool and breakfast by the pool was one-of-a-kind. Must-try for newly-weds or honeymooners. However, only complaint was the bathroom as it is made of a deep black marble pool which was a little difficult to climb in and out without risking a fall. Also the water heating system needs a lot of improvement as the supply of cold and hot water was very inconsistent, it can get too cold or too hot.

As nice and helpful as the staff were, it was hard to get past the fact hot water is not available in the bathroom sink (there simply is no hot faucet!), or that the hot water heater (such as it was) and shower head/faucet could not produce anything but either a trickle of hot water or, if the cold was turned on (trying to get warm water) the hot turned off and only cold water was available. And ths shower did not drain.
Loved the free internet and proximity to the Night Market and restaurants...

This hotel is excellent value. It is attractively designed around a central pool. The rooms are very spacious and clean with a large bathroom and a terrace. The service is friendly and efficient. Although the taxi driver had considerable difficulty locating the hotel it is actually in a very convenient location just a short walk from the Night Market. I would definitely use this hotel again.

This is a fantastic, really stylish hotel in the middle of the most interesting part of the city in Chiang Mai. It is tastefully decorated and a great base from which to explore the region.
