The staff were very nice and helpful. The location is perfect for doing activities in town. The showerhead in the bathroon is not so good to use and water is a bit too small. However, overall, it's a nice hotel!!

This hotel is very aesthetically pleasing and the staff was very pleasant and tried to be accommodating. It was nice to come back to quiet after being in the craziness of the night bazaar and I loved all the wood! That being said the wood attracts mosquitoes so be careful because the lobby is exposed and I got eaten alive while emailing one evening. Also, this is not a place to meet people or hang out. While being very pleasant to look at there's not really anywhere where I felt comfortable plopping down except my room. My only major problem was with the tour desk. Constantly they offered me things at a really inflated price, and the trek I went on was terrible. Just because I want to spend a little more on a nice hotel, doesn't mean I want to overpay for everything including all transport. Even the driver they hired let me know that I was being ripped off.

We've been staying in the Banthai Village...
We've been staying in the Banthai Village Hotel twice: after returning to Chiang Mai from our roundtrip there was no doubt about staying in the Banthai Village. The deluxe rooms are gorgeous...the bath room is huge, even with a separat bath tube. The employees are very nice and very obliging, the breakfast buffet moderate, but since the hot dishes are freshly made it was convenient for me (the omlette is good). I would definetly stay in the Bnathai Village again, prefering a deluxe room due to the size and bathroom.

The stay at the Banthai hotel made our trip in Chiang Mai even more unforgettable! - thougtful and tasteful interior design of the room - most of the rooms are next to the hotel swimming pool, which was surrounded by lushy greens - relaxing to sit at the balcony that look out to the pool - friendly staff - travel agent at the hotel very helpful, and prices are highly competitive

Location is good and easy acess to shopping ,Chinatown areas, sightseeing old temples, and famouse Night Bazaar. Hotel is good, clean and not too crowded.Good services but taxi to Airport is expensive.Get your rates with outside sources and compare.Breakfast is excellent but fixed menu. It's either Continental or American.Perhaps a wide variety of choice be offered in the future. On the whole a wonderful experience at the Banthai Village!

The location of Banthai Village was perfect,...
The location of Banthai Village was perfect, right in the heart of Chiang Mai and close to Thapai road which we used to get most everywhere. At first, we were a little uneasy as to how open it was to the alley for people to walk in and out, however that did not prove to be an issue. The hotel is very small, but cute. They had a decent breakfast available to us included in our room rate, which was a very nice convenience. The room itself was nice, pretty simplistic. A few issues we had were 1) The temperature of the room was either too warm or too cold. The air conditioner blew right on our bed and if you had it on, it was hard to control the temperature; 2) There was no hot water in the bathroom sink; 3) The water pipes don't seem to be grounded correctly because we could not be in the shower or bathtub and touch any of the faucets or the showerhead without getting shocked. That was a major concern of us; 4)We were woken each morning to the howling of dogs. I was impressed that they offered free wireless internet in the room, which is a rarity for hotels these days. We inquired about tours at the "concierge" and of course prices through them were much higher than prices we found on our own. If you want to see the sights on your own schedule at a lower cost, use a driver (often your taxi from the airport will offer).

Very friendly and obliging staff. A generally quiet spot in the middle of town, although surrounded by fairly rough housing. The only downside really was the noisy air-con at night.

The hotel is one of the few that has a natural feel and is not a tall contemporary building. Staff are very helpfull. Only niggle would be the lack of a bar in the evening after a hard days trecking.
