Front desk staff are scare to speak English. I got hang up by the staff 3 times when they heard English speaking at the other end. Nice environment . But not so handicap friendly.

Staff are very helpful and friendly, especially Nat who readily offered her advice on shopping and good restaurants around the hotel area. Would definitely stay at Yantarasri again for my next trip to Chiangmai.

A great little hotel
We recently spent 8 nights at Yantarasri Resort in Chiang Mai and had a fantastic time. The staff were lovely and very helpful, booking tours and transport for us, and attending to our every need. The resort is an oasis in the middle of a great part of Chiang Mai, close to many fantastic restaurants, bars and shops. The room we had was private and quiet. I would definitely stay here again and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.

Accommodation @ Yantasari Resort
Our stay was for 5 nights. The hotel is in a good location and is close to restaurants, cafes, pubs and some good shopping areas (not night markets and bazaars). Considering its location, its still very quiet and peaceful. Its got a fairly good standard of service. However, there are some minuses - the bed sheets and bath robes were not changed daily and the bath towels (although clean) were not white. Daily room cleaning was quite haphazard and could be improved. Breakfast was poor too as not only was there a limited selection of food but it was the same food everyday!! I'm sure they can improve on this! Also, the coffee house is only opened on certain hours. There is no room service in this hotel. Nevertheless, our stay had been quite a pleasant one as the staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a quiet retreat.

serene haven
Yantarasri was a wonderful place to stay - we were there for 7 nights and found it to be a great location very close to the trendy shopping on Nimmahaemin Street and also to the night markets. The staff at Yantarasri were welcoming, courteous, helpful and very efficient. There was also a lovely travel staff member at the reception and we were easily able to book the things that we wanted to do with her. The surroundings were calm, peaceful and totally magical with the rooms done in the traditional Thai style. I would totally recommend Yantarasri to anyone wanting a pleasant stay in Chiang Mai. Thanks so much to all the staff.
P.S. They did a brilliant job of the laundry too - all beautifully shrink- wrapped individually when it was returned to us!

Loved It!
The customer service was fantastic, we arrived early so they looked after our bags until the rooms were ready. And had already organised a room upgrade!
The resort has a beautiful nature filled outlook, making it a lot cooler than the city (which is just a few steps away). I started each day with a quick dip in the pool - it's not heated so a refreshing way to start the morning.
I would recommend Yantarasri to anyone, there were quite a few couple with children there, older solo travellers and couples wanting a romantic break - which is where we fit in. Our highlight was the bathrooms which have windows that open into the bedroom, very romantic!

Holiday in Chiang Mai
My wife and I stayed at Yantarasri Resort Chiangmai in November 2010. It was our first visit to Chiang Mai and therefore something of an adventure. We were unsure as to what to expect in Chiang Mai but far from being disappointed, we were pleasantly surprised.
First, may I say that we found the Chiang Mai people to be people of virtue; real nice pleasant people. The hotel staff might be said to be typical Chiang Mai folk. They were always helpful, kind and courteous.
Yantarasri Resort is located in a thriving district with lots of restaurants and boutique shops nearby. Just around the corner is a Tesco supermarket.
In the hotel reception there is a booking agent for tours. The hotel has a motorcycle hire service and an excellent massage service that is morally okay.
Overall, Yantarasri Resort is good value for money.

No hot water, bed very hard. Staff...
No hot water, bed very hard. Staff slow to help. Did not explain breakfast time. I have stayed in a lot of Thai hotels over the last ten years. This is the one I have been the most disappointed in. There was absolutely no hot water coming from the taps in the deluxe room we stayed in. I didn't find that out till 10.30pm, so didn't change room. Cold water coming out smelled like sulfur. When telling staff about it in the morning, no immediate effort was made to correct the problem. They did offer to change room but I was about to check out) The room was on the third floor of some very steep steps. I wouldn't want to have had any disability. Breakfast was an average affair. Its a beautiful location with a nice pool, but as is so common in this part of the world the surface looked good, but the important stuff wasn't maintained. At 10pm the Friday night the entrance to the hotel was shrouded with incense smoke as the staff prayed to the statue of the Hindu god Ganesh. My feeling is that if they put as much effort into their customers as they did into their prayer (presumably because the economy is so poor right now) it would be a much better hotel. Massages are advertised on signs outside very cheaply, but they are only cheap until a certain time in the day. After that, they become much more expensive than other places a half block up Nimmenheimen Road. Its trick advertising. Very dissapointed and will not use this hotel again.
