ketawa experience
This is a small boutique hotel with a modern contemporary style. We stayed in the purple room. We found the hotel's location convenient enough, far from the maddening crowd. It is just behind the famous Riverside restaurant. The hotel doesn't have a resto but a cafe instead, where breakfast is served. Their breakfast was not for feasting but was decent enough. Good restaurants abound within the area though. The night bazaar is within a 10-15 min. walk from the hotel, with a good view of the Mae Ping river. Initially, I had a hard time sleeping due to the continously buzzing sound of the cricket perched just outside our room but I eventually got used to it. Make sure you print out the hotel location prior to your visit here, so you can show it to the taxi driver, to facilitate finding this place. Chiang Mai is a charming place. If given a chance, we would return and stay here again.
This is an excellent small ( a dozen or so rooms) boutique hotel at a reasonable price. Located on the opposite side of the river to the city, close to excellent restaurants and high quality boutique shopping.......large, well decorated modern rooms, friendly staff and very quiet....suit couples wanting a relaxing break....adequate breakfast............only minor criticism is that there is no BBC or CNN on their cable TV, which seems to be japanese focussed.........highly recommended.
A creative, relaxing hotel in exellent location.
The KETAWA website looks very promising and both my husband and I felt that the place fully lived up to our expectations. The rooms were creative, quiet and spacious. The beds were comfortable, the toiletries and towels beautifully presented. The rooms were cosily designed in a modern yet boutique fashion. The entire hotel was filled with innovatve personal accents and areas to relax, swim our sunbathe. The colourful touches remained stylish at all times and fitted in with the atmosphere of Chiang Mai. I particularly liked the sunroof with daybed and the shaded pool. Free internet is available and the service provided is excellent. The members of staff were very friendly and the breakfast was fresh and tasty. I enjoyed my daily yoghurt with fresh fruit, honey,cappuchino and croissant basket a lot, yet there were also American and more solid options. Finally, the location of the hotel was very good. The hotel was tucked away in a side streat, yet only a few meters away were some of Chiang Mai's most popular eateries, bars, tea-houses and galleries along the riverside. The night bazaar shopping area was close by and so were the shops. Most attractions, even the old town, were within easy walking distance and tuck tucks were very easily available. I would recommend this hotel to couples and individuals of all ages who are looking for something comfortable yet stylish. It would be suitable for families with children, but not so much for toddlers.
