Nice Place to stay in Chiang Rai
SuMali and her husband Tim run a very nice, comfortable hotel in the far north of Thailand, where it is hard to find comfortable and affordable accomadations for foreigners and Thai people. The hotel is off Highway 1 a few short blocks away from town, so it is close to the night bazaar but quiet. The rooms were quite comfortable, and important if you don't know Thailand well, the bed was comfortable and not as hard as the floor, as most are in the far north. There are lots of TV channels if you stay in your room, but we don't. The breakfast is served in a small restaurant area, but it was a very good spread for a smaller hotel. Good farang food-croissants, eggs made to order, potatoes, and good food for Thai people too with some food I haven't seen served in hotels before. My Thai partner thought it was very delicious. Lastly, the service is very good. Friendly, helpful and efficient people with good English. The Palm Garden was a delightful surprise after a long day sightseeing.

If you have a car this is the perfect place to stay
Staff and owners are very friendly and helpful. Rooms and Restaurant are very clean and everything is well organized and available. The rooms are excellent but I have missed a safe and some more foreign TV Channels (there is only CNN) would be nice too. The Hotel is only 5 minutes way from the city center. You need a car or a motor cycle as there is no public transport or taxi . Would stay there again.

Excellent family-owned hotel and restaurant
The owners helped us plan pur sightseeing and visa run to the Myanmar border. The King size bedroom is spacious, ask for a room on the back that overlooks the rural landscape. Their chef makes excellent Thai food and the staff is friendly and helpful. A superior budget hotel located out of the noisy downtown and a short tuk-tuk drive away.

The breakfast was amazing. A full spread of Thai food, cereal, eggs, toast, juice, fruit, pastries and bacon. The staff at the hotel were very friendly and the hotel was good value for money. Unfortunately it is not in the centre of Chiang Rai, but the hotel will arrange a tuk tuk for 60 baht. There is a restaurant on site which was good and served Thai and some western dishes. However, there is nothing else around the hotel. This hotel is good if you have your own car.

It is a really nice hotel. Very value for the price you pay. The service is outstanding. The staff is very nice and friendly. They give you the feeling that you are welcome and at home. What ever you need they will arrange for you. The room facilities is good. In total the hotel provides you a comfortbable stay. The only lack is that the hotel is very isolated. But the hotel can arrange a tuk-tuk taxi to the city for around 80 Baht. Palm Garden is recommendable for couples who want to take a good rest asides from chaos and who love nature. The sun set in the morning is beautiful and the air fresh. Also for a overnight stay for business issues is Palm Garden a good place. If we go back to Chiang Rai we will take this hotel again.

we were very positive about the hotel,...
we were very positive about the hotel, although it is situated outside the centre of Chiang Rai (since most of the attractions are also not in the city itself, it's recommendable to rent a car or ask a taxi driver to drive you around). The service was very good: the girl at the reception helped us several times. The breakfast was ok and the room was very clean. If we would go back to Chiang Rai, we would certainly consider taking this hotel again.

the palm garden hotel is excellent value,...
the palm garden hotel is excellent value, the staff is outstanding and will go out of their way to help you. the hotel is not well located but the staff will call a tuk-tuk and for 60 baht you will be in the centre of chiang rai. the money saved on your hotel bill will adequately compensate for the extra 20 baht you have to pay to get into chiang rai. breakfast was great. the staff are the greatest attraction at this hotel. people talk about thai smiles, well at the palms garden you see the biggest smiles ever and they are genuine. give them a go, you will not regret it.
