Thank you for taking the time to post your review of Dusit Thani Hua Hin on asiarooms.com. As a prominent member of a well respected international hotel chain, it is necessary that we respond to your claims of a ‘serious oil spill towards the little pool’ (Garden Pool) so that the full facts of this incident can be accurately made known to all.
Dusit Thani Hua Hin takes its commitment to guest, staff safety and to the environment in which it operates extremely seriously. The oil spill, whilst very unfortunate, was the result of a malfunctioning float switch of the fuel oil tank, with the result of a very minor leakage of between 15 to 20 liters of fuel oil overflowing from the oil tank. Immediately our staff were aware there was a malfunction with the float switch, sandbags were placed in the drainage ditch into which the oil had leaked to halt and contain its spread – we should clarify that this ditch is in fact located on the other side of the boundary road to the Garden Pool. Whilst sandbags were being placed a municipal vacuum truck had already been called and dispatched to clear up the slight oil spill. The whole oil spill was contained and totally cleaned up within 5 hours.
Furthermore Dusit Thani Hua Hin is very proud to have recently been awarded Bronze Earth Check Certification as part of this hotels on-going Corporate Social Responsibility commitment to the environment in which it operates. The hotel plans to achieve Silver Certification within the next 12 months. Other environmental schemes that the hotel is participating in includes earth hour, staff tree planting exercises and switching to the use of more energy efficient lighting to name just a few, and we shall continually seek improved methods of operation to further reduce our carbon footprint.
