Quiet relaxation in a beautiful setting
The hotel itself is gorgeous-- the design and decor has an old world flavor; it's like stepping back into a time when life moved at a gentler pace. Devasom is a small hotel with only about 15 rooms and 10 villas, which suits me fine as I dislike staying in large impersonal hotels. The staff is friendly and accommodating, and the owner herself was around the dining area chatting with customers. The food was very pleasant, and well-presented. It would have been nice to see a larger selection of beverages though. If you drink diet sodas, want a liqueur, or like a large-sized bottle of beer, you'd better stock up on your own.
One of the only drawbacks for me was the lack of a sandy beachfront. When the tide's out, there is a small strip of sand, but for most of the day during the time I was there (Oct.) there wasn't, though the sea view was great, and a few meters down a small road in front of the hotel led me to sandy beach access.
The hotel is pricier than the ones I normally stay at, but I'd still consider staying there again.
