The hotel rooms are very good. The grounds and pool are first class, even the gym was well appointed. The evening entertainment consists of singer in an empty bar room which nobody uses because the bar prices are so bloody high. If they reduced the drink and food prices by 50% they may well get a full bar in the evening. The staff appeared to have no service training so the level of service is very poor. If the staff matched the buildings and the food and drink prices were cut in half this hotel would be the best I have ever stayed in but unfortunatly there was always a bad felling at the end of every day. Something always left me cold. Thailand is the land of 1000 smiles but not at this hotel, which is very sad.

The resort was in an ideal location on the river and there were many things to do, such as river tours and sightseeing around the area. We had a great 3 night stay.

I highly recommend this hotel and its...
I highly recommend this hotel and its grounds are like a paradise. I may be slightly biased as we came from the dreadful Grand China Princess in BKK (See the reviews on this site). The reception at Felix River Kwai Resort was friendly and professional. A minor problem with our first room was quickly dealt with by transferring us without fuss. (The lights in the bathroom were not working). On arrival we were stunned by the beauty of the gardens in the central pool area. The garden and water features throughout the hotel grounds are superb. We had a room overlooking the river and sitting on the balcony was wonderfully relaxing. The pools at the hotel are very well thought out. The large featured pool ideal for families in the central gardens and a standard rectangular sports pool with lanes for those who want to exercise. Both very clean and attractive to use. The restaurants were acceptable as was breakfast however service and food rate only slighlty above average. The only downside to this hotel is access to the adjacent town of Kanchanaburi. On foot it requires a precarious, but otherwise pleasant walk across the River Kwai rail bridge. It is designed to be used by both trains and pedestrians but the central walkway is barley wide enough for two people to pass, with drops to the river on either side. There are a few passing points for when the slow train comes two or three times a day but no one bothers to use the passing points when facing oncoming pedestrians. That said everyone manages but its not recommended at night. The only other other way is to use a taxi. The hotel provide transport for about 200 Baht or more depending where you go in the town. There are plenty of restaurants in town, loads of shops and plenty to do. Although tourism here is largely based around the tragedy of the 'Death Railway' this town is acutally very pleasant to visit in its own rights. Our only regret was not staying here longer and we were so impressed we are thinking of coming here for our entire trip next time, puting this above our following stay in Krabi for its relaxing atmosphere and settings.

Felix is a nice hotel - probably better if you have a car when staying there. It's just a 5 minute walk to the famous bridge - but Kanchanaburi is pretty spread out, hence the need for a car. We stayed in one of the river view rooms - a big room with a big balcony just 10 metres away from the river Kwai. The rooms are nicely decorated - lots of teak and the bathroom is lovely too. The breakfast was good & varied but we didn't eat in the restaurants any other time as we preferred to dine out. For what we paid - I consider it a bargain.

My husband and I were very pleasantly surprised by the quality of this Hotel. This was our first trip to Thailand and we were not sure what to expect but it was wonderful. The pool was a good size and very clean and the surrounding gardens were good. We have a lovely suite and the rooms were nicely furnished and very clean. The Hotel is right on the banks of the River Kwai and it is very picturesque. The food in the restuarant was excellent, plenty of choices and very reasonable prices. The people were all very friendly and helpful and they all spoke English, which was a big help. We booked one of the day tours which operate from the Hotel and that was very efficient. I would definitely recommend this Hotel to any travellers to Kanchanaburi.

This was my second stay at this...
This was my second stay at this resort and was still just as impressed. The only downside is that it could be difficult to get back from the river restaurants at night, we had a car so I am not sure what the taxi service is like at night. Book any excursions from a tourist shop in the town as they are much cheaper. Will definately stay here again when next in Kanchanaburi.

Our stay at the Felix Thairiver Resort...
Our stay at the Felix Thairiver Resort was much more than we expected. We booked our stay on the internet at Asia Hotels which in the past has been quite accurate regarding their ratings. Our room was very well appointed and provided us with a wonderful view of the gardens. The excellent service from the staff was provided in a very cheerful manner which was not a surprise to us as the Thai people have shown to us such a gentle and peaceful manner in most places that we have visited. The resort is situated just steps from "The bridge over the River Kwai" which allowed us cross over to town for any items that we wished to purchase. My wife, and I,have travelled extensively in Asia and have had the pleasure of staying in a variety of resorts and hotels. If you are looking for a little peace and tranquility away from the "downtown" hussle and bussle, stay at the Felix, you wont be dissapointed! Many Thanks; Steve Hornby Canada
