Stay in a hut on the river
Apart from the fact that you have to wade through unhappy staff and their screaming children every time you walk through reception, or the fact that if you can't leave any valuables lying around, the Jasmin hut on the river was excelent. Great private balcony with fantastic sunsets, clean room with hot water and an AMAZING air conditioner. No double beds though, but they just popped 2 singles together for my wife and I. Worked a treat.
A room on the river
We stayed 2 nights on a raft on the river, i d say it s an experience ! We liked every minute of it. Indeed we had to listen to some of the worst karaoke ever heard, but this is part of the fun ( plus of you spend the day out, you won t be bother as they stop at dawn )
Room is large ( we took the biggest raft one - aka VIP ) with a nice terrace on the river, very clean, and quite cheap .
Even if the staff is not always understanding 100% of English , they always do their best to try ( learning some local language is always a plus )
I certainly will return in a drier season

Very poor
Room expensive for what it was, staff unhelpful and not friendly at all. Unpleasant stay, and would not reccomend to anyone at all. Considering its in lonely planet as a place to stay is wrong. Have used Asia rooms a lot and 90percent very good, when booked price was 1800bht, but somehow price had changed by no mistake of my own, and had to pay 2400bht.

Peaceful and quiet, nice and cosy place...
Peaceful and quiet, nice and cosy place to stay. Location is good to proceed to the popular place. The room rate is a little bit high for budget travelers.

bueatiful little cottages right on the river kwai, the owner called a long tail boat to pick us up for a cruise on the river. only negative is that staff have very limitled english.
