The breakfast is 1st class, as was the other food on offer. The pool was a bit on the small side but this was fine at the time as the report was not busy. I stayed in a double deluxe room on the road side, a second set of glass screens had been erected on the balcony which eliminated any road noise. Though room itself was spacious & well equipped.

Great Place
We checked in and the owner / operater was extremely helpful We were assisted to the room and shown everything regarding the room. As our room was facing the street it was explained how to make the room quieter. The staff at the resort were extremely friendly and the quality of the cleanliness was great. Prices for the in room bar fridge were very reasonable. Over all extremely happy with our stay. As we are not beach persons the fact that there was no beack as such did not bother us.
Puzzled by the positive reviews
We stayed at Top Resort for four days and quite frankly, have no idea why they are so highly rated. Do not, I repeat, do not book a standard room...it's either a ploy to get you booked into the resort via this website so you have to upgrade to a nicer room (what happened to us), or they are truly oblivious as to how offensive this musty, cell block of a room is (think prison). The next step up is the deluxe room and for another $6/night you get a much nicer, larger room - the difference between the two just doesn't compute. Aside from that, the pool was under renovation for three of the four days of stay...not mentioned to us until we walked over for breakfast on our first morning and saw a big black tarp. Two of the four mornings, they were pressure washing the outdoor breakfast patio so we either had to put up with the noise or eat inside...getting the picture? I don't care if it's low-season, we are still paying customers! The owners are "nice enough" is what many people have reviewed, but in our opinion, completely lacking in basic good customer service. It would have taken very little on their part to improve our experience - a quick apology about the non-functioning pool, and maybe a free room upgrade (the place was empty after all), or breakfast, heck, even a coffee?! The owners were not helpful when we were seeking advice on getting to the ferry to catch a bus to Bangkok. We followed the advice of one owner, leaving when he suggested. When we had trouble finding an affordable ride to the pier (the taxis will rip you off if there are only two of you for the ride) and running out of time, the other owner came out for some unhelpful sarcastic banter, wished us luck in making the ferry, and left. (Really? if you're not doing anything, how about offering your guests a ride with that Top Resort truck over there?!) We missed the ferry, but thankfully, our bus was late and we still caught it. Save your money for a nicer place that cares about it's guests.

We got a Deluxe double, which was big and nicely furnished, with a balcony (recommend you get a garden view). The beach is about a 5-10min walk down the road, and the pool and restaurant are nice. Apparently most of the clientele are German, so the Cable TV was mostly in Thai, French or German, and all of the DVD's at reception were in German. Luckily one of the staff had some English DVD's he lent to us, as there was a tropical storm, and it rained for the 4 days we were there. Check if its the Thai rainy season before you go, as this island seems to be affected more by that than others.

We had a seaview bungalow with wonderful...
We had a seaview bungalow with wonderful view from our sleeping room to the sea. The room was well equipped with bathroom, full equipped kitchen, seperate living and sleeping areas and a balcony. Sleeping room and balcony have a wonderful view to the sea. The bungalow is in a nice green garden with many palmtrees and a nice swimming pool with great panorama views to the sea on one side and to the mountains on the other side. Everything was clean and very well maintained. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a nice restaurant on the premises. There is free internet usage in the Reception area.

A nice, maybe the best resort in Koh Chang. I stayed with my family for 2 weeks. Very nice garden, clean rooms, nice staff and very good dining.
The swimming pool is in the garden, on the top and from the restaurant you have a beautiful view over the sea to sunset.

This hotel was very nice. We were lucky to have a room with a garden view. Cuz we had booked family room. The territory is beatiful. Especialy I liked the place where the stairway goes down to the sea. You could spend hours watching the giant stormy waves crashing against the rocks.
Be careful: dont swim there. It's dangerous. The rocks are very sharp.
I didnt like breakfast. Why serve the same every day. omelette omelette omelette.
