A mix of reality, half truths and PR
We did book 6 nights with them. Arrived and decided on the spot to spend only the first one there. The friendly service they advertise soon disappeared as soon as they found out we were checking out. Not a word or some friendly gesture from the owner - he chose to simply ignore us with not even a good bye at the end. Downright impolite. To their credit, the rest of the staff was ok though.
So, why did we leave?
The location (which is nice -truth be told- in the restaurant/terrace area) is way too remote. Close to the beach way too overstated. I'd go with the word "enclave" - if you want to check out other restaurants/go to the beach/have some sort of holiday activity like regular people, you do have to walk up to the main road, catch a shared taxi and ride between 5-30 minutes depending on where you want to go. Not taking the taxi means walking up/down a pretty steep hill, 30-35 degrees celsius outside. The result is the fact that you feel somehow trapped there. They don't seem to realize that when you're on holiday and really want to go to beach you don't feel like walking up / waiting in the sun for a song thaew (taxi), ride for 15 minutes then coming back for a shower just to catch another song thaew back to where the action is.
Fan bungalows - nice on the outside they're spartan once you get in. Cement walls, a bed, a desk, a toilet/shower and that's it. Not my place to judge - some people are ok with that set up, some not. You can definitely find this price on other beaches - we chose a nicer, ($40) air con room with a wider array of facilities onto a way nicer and more diversified beach. ONTO A BEACH, to be more specific. Best place (and also most touristic) is the White Sands beach with some areas like Nature Beach, Kai Be trailing. Lots of accommodation there - fees ranging from 450 bht to 2000+ bht / night. More touristic means more restaurants/cafes/shops/etc so after all more activities. So, price wise this is at the middle side of the spectrum.
