Fantastic location, poor customer service, bad food
I booked this place based on the various reviews and it came on top of the list according to customer feedback.
We booked their "sunset pool villa"
The location is gorgeous, the villas are great and very charming. We didn't mind the steep walk back and forth nor the rocky beach. The gardens are amazing, the ponds a sight you won't see often elsewhere
The biggest let down was service. It was barely existent. Ordering anything at the pool bar could take up to one hour to arrive and that was if you could find someone to ask. Getting towels turned out to be a long and painful exercise every single day until we located the laundry and helped ourselves there.
Room service would usually require 3 calls until anything happened (which wasn't helped by the fact that the staff at the reception desk spoke very little English)
Mind you, the staff were very nice and friendly ; when you asked something they would acknowledge quickly and be on their way ; except that usually nothing would happen for a long time (if it happened)
As for food... don't bother eating there. The choice was poor and quality even worse: most of the food turned out to be blend and with little flavour, something I had never seen in Thailand before where food seem to be a national pride. Spring rolls were from a frozen pack for sure... At Watermark, their seafood restaurant, there was only one fish dish on the menu! (and crumbed, didn't even feel fresh)

Luckily, great food was only 3 minutes walk outside the resort and at a third of the price. 36 Steak House was very yummy.
Take a 100 baht tuk-tuk to Klong Hin Bech and enjoy great cocktails and food at a fraction of the price you would have paid at the resort.
If it wasn't for the food, despite the slow and poor service you could feel that you were in paradise ; unfortunately you had to step out to reality for dinner to get decent food.
I probably won't go back again.

We had a great 13 days stay there. Everyting is as good as you can see in the internet. Breakfast is fine (somemore cheese would be nice) The only small thing to complain about is the prices for food and massage in the hotel, which are clearly overprized. Otherwise it is a super spot for getting recreated.

What an amazing place! So...
What an amazing place! So beautiful... we stayed for part of our honeymoon and got an upgrade on our accommodation which was fantastic! Our room was out of this world - our own plunge pool overlooking the ocean! Fantastic. Breakfasts were also very, very good - the best banana bread in town. The only bad thing - it is not in the best of locations if you want alot of choice of resturants within walking distance to the hotel. A moped is the way to go to solve this! Or even a Tuk Tuk.

This is a great hotel. Our beautiful...
This is a great hotel. Our beautiful room was right at the top of the hill but this was not a problem as there was a constant stream of golf carts to ferry us up the hill, We travelled with our three month old baby and contrary to some other reviews I think this is a good place for families. Yes, it's quiet in the evening but in Thailand don't expect Butlins type entertainment. The numerous swimming pools were beautiful and of a really good size. The beach is also very good, at very low tide there are a few exposed rocks but still plenty of space for swimming. All the staff spoke some level of English and we never had a problem with communication. Our room service requests were dealt with quickly and efficiently and all the staff were very polite and eager to please. The breakfast buffet was really excellent, if you arrive late then you may struggle to find a free table but I guess a lot of hotels have the same problem at breakfast times. I would recommend this resort to anyone who wants to stay in a more upmarket resort, for Koh Lanta it's kind of expensive but you do get what you pay for. This resort has great facilities, helpful staff, lovely rooms in a contemperary Thai style and really does look as good in real life as it does in the pictures on the internet.

A very nice hotel with a good infrastructure but with a very lousy service, personel with very limited English skills and restaurant prices which do not reflect the quality of food and service at all.

We were greeted by the hotel staff...
We were greeted by the hotel staff upon arrival. Paid THB 1500-1 way for transportation to the hotel. The hotel is 2 hours from Krabi Airport. An hours drive to the pier where the vehicle boarded a huge ferry to Koh Lanta Island and we continued another hours drive to get to the hotel. The hotel is huge and to get to your room, you need a buggy to move around the hotel premises as it is steep. The bad point of this hotel is that there are no good restaurants. I wanted to have a romantic dinner to celebrate my wife's birthday but all the restaurants lacked the ambience. Other then that, the pool is nice and the beach is not too bad although there are lots of shells & dead corals that made it quite painful to walk barefooted. You might want to pack a sandwich or some snacks for your return journey as there are no food outlets at the airport and most flight leave about 7pm.

We stayed in Rawi Warin first week...
We stayed in Rawi Warin first week of January 2008 and had a great time! Hotel is so beautifully built and landscaped, including a pond, waterfalls, gardens and more. The swimming pool is very nice as well, with special area for children and also a bubble-massage area. There is also a mini-movie-theatre to enjoy daily shows, a spa (though too expensive to my taste, even compared to Bangkok 5 star hotel spa prices), small-but-nice Gym and a tennis court. There are some downsides (the following list is long, but it's really not so bad when compared to other hotels we have stayed in; I am hoping this list will come to the attention of someone in the Hotel Management, so as to correct the following): 1. No information in the room about the resort, meaning we only found out after 3 days that there are daily schedueled ectivities for hotel guests, for example cruises. (Obviously many of the cruises were cancelled for lack of sufficient participants, which stands to reason seeing guests are not informed of the existence of these activities...) 2. The restaurant appeared high class but the food was very dissappointing. For such high prices we expected so much more (e.g. the shrimp was not peeled contrary to our explicit requests, and the dessert was completely burned/dryed in the oven). 3. Staff is unorganized in some respects (e.g. we asked for a banana shake in the pool and were answered: "no bananas left" which is a curiosity in a 5 stars hotel). 6. Guests should be aware that the beach of the hotel is wanting. Either walk 100 meters southwards to some decent beach, or stay in the pool area. 7. Finally, be aware that not all rooms are the same, and in fact you should investigate what you are getting - the Seaview Deluxe is perched too high up on the mountain in my view (even though the view is quite nice up there); the Pond Villas are nicer though be aware some are right "on top" of the pool area (we stayed in a Pond Villa that was remote from the pool, on the second floor, and were very content); the Ocean View Villa is right on the beach where all the people are (if that's your thing). Overall our experience was very good and we will consider staying there again. The resort is so beautiful it fits young couples / Romantics. Enjoy
