Incredible Room
The resort is a 10 minute walk from the beach but it is worth it for the fabulous room. Very spacious and with a large jaquzzi bath, it was a great place to stay.

Good but not great
We'd already spent some time on Ko Lanta at a beach-side bungalow, but felt like something a little more luxurious for the last two nights on the islands. As it was off-season, we got the room at something like 50% of the 'standard' price.
Predictably, the hotel isn't in the ideal location; it's close to the island's north beaches, whic are nowhere near as nice as the fantastic Long Beach. For those with a driver, their own vehicle, or as part of a tour, this is probably ideal. For guests who want to explore the island for themselves, the location can feel a little remote, even though it's probably only a quarter of a mile from the main road and half a mile from the decent beaches.
The hotel was extremely clean, and the facilities as promised. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and a pleaure to deal with. The room was decent, with a fantastic bathroom.
We may have been the only guests during our stay. While this was perfect for us at this stage in our trip, it may not be ideal for everyone; I'm sure this will change after the low season passes.
Breakfast was excellent (European and Thai buffet). We didn't eat dinner there.
Overall, clean and decent accommodation. Not for those seeking personality and charm; probably better suited to older travellers and families.

We loved this hotel. Only a few quibbles.
The hotel should provide more information on its facilities. The only info provided in the room related to using the hotel's Spa. No restaurant menus, DVD manual, use of telephone...nothing!
The bathroom was beautiful but there were no tooth brush holders, soap dishes and only one towel rail. Not a big deal, but a bit irritating!
The pool was lovely but there were not enough sun loungers or sunshades. I counted only 6 sunshades which is woefully inadequate for the size of the hotel and it was incredibly hot.

The beach is about 15 minutes walk and the path is full of litter. Whilst this is not the hotel's responsibility they would be well advised to clear it up as not only is it an eyesore, it is potentially a risk to children and those less mobile.

My fiancée and I have just returned from a 12 night stay at the Pilanta Resort. The resort was everything you could wish for in terms of a clean, friendly and relaxing spa resort.
ALL the staff were very attentive, polite and friendly, which you come to expect of Thai people. The rooms were always kept clean, and the beds deserve a special mention as they were huge, extremely comfortable and the pillows were amazing!
We only ate breakfast at the resort, preferring to venture out for dinner, therefore cannot pass to much comment on the quality of the food. The breakfast was buffet style and therefore had something to satisfy everyone's taste.
The only criticism I might have was the location. The resort is not on the beach and you really have to get a tuk-tuk there and back. A tuk-tuk will cost you 100 baht (£2) each way so can add up. Saladan, the main town, is only a mile away and has plenty of stalls, shops and ATM's should you need them. You can walk there but the road back is very dark at night and although probably safe, it may not appeal to most.
The resort always has a taxi ready and waiting and also have scooters available to rent at 250 baht a day (£5!), so getting to and from the resort is always possible.
Overall, I would say anyone looking for a relaxing break, at a resort that really do look after you, Pilanta comes highly recommended.

Big Thumbs Up
I stayed at Pilanta for a week in October. This is a new resort in its first year. the room was very well appointed in traditional Thai furniture with a/c, free Wifi, flat screen tv, whirlpool and massage jet tub, outside plunge pool, etc. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially manager Andy. When I discovered a monitor lizard in my pool, the gardners and staff immediately came with pool skimmer and bag and removed it. The pool is great and the gym was small but allowed a good little workout.
The only drawback is that the hotel is a 15-20 minute walk to the beach, and then there is 15-minute walk down the beach to get to the restaurants. With that said, I enjoyed the food at the hotel immensely and thought it beat some of the food I had on the beach.
