My wife and I really enjoyed our stay at Panviman. We arrived after torrential rains hit the area so the entrance road was pretty torn up. When we arrived from Samui, we were unaware of impassable roads from landslides, and had to take a boat taxi to the resort. It was a great way to see half of the island although 5 times more expensive then taking a taxi by land - we were initially pretty dubious of taking the boat taxi - but it worked out fine in the end. When we arrived we pushed the number of patrons up to 3...low season and bad rains I guess....
The resort itself was beautiful but since there were only 3 of us (about 2 more couples arrived in the next 2 days) it was really quiet - except for the construction from about 8 am to 8 pm. They're adding about 15 more rooms, overlooking their beautiful pool. But construction seems to be pretty normal at many resorts during the low season so expect it whereever you stay.
We are going back to Thailand in Feb. 2006 and are considering staying there again. There are other places that are cheaper, so it's not a budget resort but its nice for a treat. Overall - the layout of the resort is beautiful. Minutes walk to local village and beaches. Good food (a little pricy). Wonderful pool. Great view of the inlets! Friendly service. Overall, very good.
