To sum up quickly, the Bay View Resort was the most unpleasant stay I have spent money on in many years of travel. I would strongly recommend you do not book here.
On checking in we had to wait several hours to access our room. However, this gave us an opportunity to meet some people checking out. Unfortunately, this is when we begun hearing stories of days without running water in rooms (and so no toilet or shower). And being told that no number of requests for this to be remedied were acted on.
When we got into our room we soon found that both the toilet and the air conditioner were leaking water. Then when I tried to call reception I found the telephone did not work at all. Unfortunately it was quite a hike down the hill to reception & back up to the room. And as none of these problems were fixed during our stay it wasted approximately 15 mins each time I needed to speak to reception.
The air conditioner’s leak progressively got worse and when we arrived back to our room after dinner on the first night we found half our room flooded, including our bags.
To top this off our room also lost power several times (for hours at a time) throughout the stay, which was an inconvenience for obvious reasons.
After feeling we could no longer be patient I spoke to the resort's owner/manager to express our concerns. Following the conversation the manager agreed to refund our money. However, I was then informed that this refund would not come from the resort, but out of the pocket of his staff, who neither could afford it, nor should have to.
Of course when we checked out of the resort the manager had disappeared and was unavailable to speak with. I was then pointed in the direction of the marketing manager to deal with us, who again did not seem to care at all about the situation.
Phi Phi Island is a stunning island. But please do yourself a favour and stay somewhere else so your time is not tarnished as ours was. Our stay at Bayview was unpleasant, and our communications with them since to come to a resolution have been treated with contempt.

When we arrived at Bayview, the safe wasn't working after many calls to the reception, the sent down an engineer who then said the batteries had ran out and that he couldn't do anything about it.So our safe was never fixed.
Also the air conditioner was dripping throughout our stay. Calls to the reception yielded a non commital response. So yet again the air conditioner was not fixed.
The location is a bit out of the way compared to the other resorts. And if you stay at the Grand Delux Villas like we did, it will a bit of a trek up to your room.
The rooms are spartan at best but the view is excellent.
I probably wouldn't visit this hotel again but for the relative cheap price, its probably best catered to bugdet conscious travellers.
also a point to note is that the hot shower takes 15 minutes to heat up.

The hotel is located on the main bay of the island so you have access through sand-walk to the center in just 5 mins. Any other hotels except Tonsai area need a taxi boat. Rooms not so good and staff little lazy. You need to go up and down the hill many times per day to your room and in very hot days it is killing and definitely not for seniors. Beach and sand are great and you can swim even on low tide!

Easy to get to bars and restaurants but far enough away not to be in the hubbub. Sewerage system obviously not up to much as it was a bit whiffy some days. All staff very nice as is everyone on Koh Phi Phi.. Hilly walks to rooms so not suitable for less able. You have to get your feet wet to get to the resort also ...so be prepared.
The Bay View Resort is a great...
The Bay View Resort is a great place. Management and Staff wonderful and location perfect. The room standard (we use deluxe room) is nice enough although they are being upgraded this year they tell us. Hot showers are unique - run by the air-conditioning system, great way to save the island's resources. Unbeatable views and just far enough away from the town to be quiet but close enough to walk. 5th time we've stayed there in 9 years. Always no 1 choice for us.

Thanks for email. We've enjoyed staying at Bay View Resort.
The bungalow was nice and clean...but the bathroom compared not to the other equipement inside.
But never the less, if there will be a next time for us on Phi Phi...we'll stay at Bay View Resort.

the policy is strictly charge the most and supply with the least.
no hot water, broken things in bathroom, no sitting area in the room, one towel per guest, no umbrellas which are standard in all other 5 hotels we stayed in in thiland. no phone, long high climbe to the rooms, cheap cold breakfast and to top it all the manager Paul, a western guy did not agree to lend us an umbrella to get to our room in the pouring rain when we are wet and cold, saying they are only for the grand delux guests. we stayed in the delux. his employee in the front desk gave us one with no problem once he left. good hotels in phi phi are the banyan villa, the phi phi hotel and the one we moved into which was grate, the cabana resort.
