Absolutely beautiful
We have stayed here before and would have loved to have got married here but was too difficult for family and friends. Will be back for the honeymoon. Staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. The setting is out of this world and swimming in the sea is fantastic, like a warm bath. If you want to impress your wife or girlfriend bring them here and lap it up. Make sure you come in the summer, the raining season would not be as much fun.
aging resort
for close to 300 dollars you get an aging room half way up a hill with an old small tv, HBO with no sound, shower with little hotwater, in an aging resort full of overweight germans and large groups of chain smoking chinese.. on the plus side the staff do try hard and the location is lovely.. breakfast was good..

Very nice stay (lucky we were to stay in a front beach cottage !) . Pity that it's not clearly mentioned on the website the possibility for transfer from Ban Pe and from Bangkok.
It was not clear neither on the website that the Ao Prao is not a “only one hotel†but a group of 4. Anyway in July-August it’s probably not a problem but during week-end or high season maybe too crowdy beach…
The site is OK just to rest but the island has no interest (even less on the other side of the island !).

nice secluded beach and possible to walk to the other side of the island within 30 minutes. taxi-drivers and motorbike-hiring double price in ao prao than on the other side of the island.
the grilled bbq for dinner in the restaurant of the resort was very romatic and tasteful, highly recommanded

Ao prao was a lovely resort the hotel was perfect and the staff really helpful we would definitely go there again. It was very quiet which was perfect for a few days but if you stayed any longer you would need to explore the rest of the island. Only one criticism was the lack of information both about the hotel and the resort/island they could make much more of it
Very quiet part of the island but...
Very quiet part of the island but only a few minute taxi from other beaches where there is more choice of restaurant etc. Beach is white sand and very clean and quiet and can easily obtain chair and umbrella at the facility. Pool is a bit small but quite nice. Price obtained direct from hotel much higher than you can secure on internet.

Restaurant not so good, breakfast just about OK but dinner very average and rather expensive.Better to eat in the sister hotel "Le Vimarn" two minutes walk along the beach
Service very slow bit staff very friendly and keen to do their best.
Hotel was very quiet when we stayed (Jan 09)and our fellow guests all seemed to go to bed as soon as they had finished dinner! Perhaps it is livelier when there are more guests staying

Good taht boat transfer from Rayong-island is incl with intnet price. The boat service/ reception at Ban Phe and the island is ok, proper welcome & goodbye. We stayed at Deluxe room, which is a row behind the beach-front ones. For the price, room is pretty standard, less luxurious than the photos on the web, probably it was the refurbished one (glad there was no bad smell as mentioned by previous reviewer). The pool is small & plain square, nonetheless has new & comfy lounger better than those at the beach.. pool is the best place to relax/ read/ enjoy sea view/ sunset. We visited in Dec: the water is cold & clear and my hubby, my 7 yrs old son and me were very happy we could swim & snorkle... lots of fish to see at right hand side/ of the beach where the stone/ reef start to appear. Groups of small fish are everywhere on shoreline!! Saturday BBQ a bit pricey but incl soup & salad. Try other night they have just soup & salad bar for 250 baht. Cheaper options next-door. Ao Prao beach is secluded and closest to Rayong, boat trip takes 10 min only. We enjoy our 2N stay a lot!

Stayed at Le Vermainn resort as we were provided an upgradeEverything was great except for the housekeeping service . They did not makeup the rooms until we told them (we were ready by 9am, and at 5pm, they had still not made up the room.) When they did make up the room, there was no toilet paper, the floor was not swept or mopped.
Also the breakfast on Sunday was average. Freshly requested fried eggs had ants in it. Had to send it back.
Other than that, the food was expensive on the resort and service at the Thai restaurant was average to say the least. Everyone at that restaurant did their best to avoid eye contact so as not needing to service people. This viewpoint was also shared by other guests.
I would definitely go back due to the overall experience but would really like the service to be much better next time. I think a supervisor for housekeeping would improve its service a lot.
