We were somewhat disappointed with Togsai Bay....
We were somewhat disappointed with Togsai Bay. I could see how this property was at the top 5 years ago, but with so many newly built resorts all over the island, this hotel is very overpriced and did not live up to its reputation. We stayed in the private cottage. We had to climb 78 steps to get to our room. Normally not a big deal but in 98 degree heat with 86% humidity it was not something we looked forward to doing often (especially since there is even more climbing to do to get to and from the beach/pool). When we arrived, our room was not as clean as I would have liked. There were a few dead bugs in the bathroom; there was a cigarette ash on the rug in the living room and some stains on the coffee table and the place had a bit of a dated feel to it. The cottage is split level/loft- the living room is on the first floor and the bedroom overlooks the living room with a bathroom behind it on the second floor. The air conditioning unit is on the ceiling at the edge of the bedroom facing the living room, so the bedroom stayed pretty warm even with the air on. The service was OK - maybe we got spoiled by the service we received at the Four Seasons in Chaing Mai, but we did not feel "special". One day our room was not made up until very late in the day. This property is pretty secluded and to get into Chaweng or anywhere else, we had to take a taxi as shuttle service is not offered by the hotel which is a shame. There is a travel agency on the property which provides taxi service from the hotel into town at set rates (which seemed a bit inflated) but since there is no other option, we had no choice but to use their taxis. The beach was very poor compared to other beaches on Koh Samui - it was rocky and pretty deep right away. I stuck to the swimming pool. Breakfast was very expensive and not very good. The food at the Thai restaurant on the property was also disappointing. By contrast, the food at the restaurant by the pool was quite good and we ate there several times. Overall, if we return to Koh Samui, we will stay elsewhere next time.

Lovely hotel, rooms felt a bit old...
Lovely hotel, rooms felt a bit old though (sea view cottage) and we heard our neighbours watching tv through the wall. It's otherwise really quiet and far away from any thumping disco music. It's a 5 min drive to the closest village where you can dine on the beach for a fraction of the price. The food at the hotel is very expensive, also compared with other 4 and 5 star hotels on Samui. Really clean beach! :) All in all a really nice hotel, except our room...

Great location in beautiful tropical gardens although is quite remote and lots of stairs to some rooms. Taxi drivers over charge to get anywhere from this resort. Food was ok but not as good as it should be for a 5 star resort. Beautiful pool and private beach. Be careful if you lie under the umbrellas on the beach for too long, they dont stop UV so many guests including us got quite burnt! Nice friendly staff.

We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon stay at...
We thoroughly enjoyed our honeymoon stay at Tongsai Bay. We stayed in a Cottage Suite overlooking the Gulf of Thailand and it was absolutely wonderful. The private terrace and outdoor bath tub was great, the room was very clean, and the bed was extremely comfortable. The service was fantastic from the pool to the restaurant, and somewhat surprisingly, the food was really outstanding for a hotel resort. It is not an inexpensive place to stay, but for a special occasion or if money is not much of an issue for you, it has good value for the level of service and the spectacular setting. The only reason that we do not recommend it for seniors is that even though you can call for a "buggy" (golf cart) to pick you up, there are quite a few stairs (we had 50 to 60) to get to our cottage. If you are in good health and can handle the stairs, we have no reservations about Tongsai and would recommend it highly.

My wife and I stayed here for...
My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon just like many other guests who were here at the same time. The resort made a precious time in our lives even more special than we could ever have dreamed. The staff were very attentive and friendly (they would go out their way to help you) and this coupled with the excellent facilities and food made us have the trip of a lifetime. The beach is very peaceful, with roasting hot sand that is a little coarse but adds to the beautiful scenery without being the best to walk or lie on. We used most of the facilities available such as the kayaking (was great fun and lovely location to do it), gala room with pool table and theatre system etc., and both pools, the quiet half moon which was lovely and relaxing and the main pool which was slightly busier without being too busy or loud, though this could be down to the clientele. We used the tennis courts a few times and borrowed their rackets to do so, they even brought up cold water and cool towels to help us cool down during our rests, was a lovely unexpected touch, but hardly surprising once we had become accustomed to this level of service and attentiveness. We tried and loved all the restaurants. The Butlers was of an exceptional quality though you pay accordingly, but was well worth the visit as a well deserved treat. The other two are more reasonably priced and as with everything at the resort were upto the resorts high standard. The gardens were also very luscious and in keeping with the scenic beauty and overall cleanliness of the resort. The greeting at the reception was very welcoming and the receptionists were extremely friendly and helpful on numerous occasions. It was sad to leave such a lovely place, but as with everything all good things must come to an end eventually. I think that its safe to say that I would recommend the Tongsai Bay to everyone and hopefully they can maintain their high standards and allow others to share in an amazing experience just as we did.
