We stayed for five nights at the beginning of September, with our two teenage boys. Initial impression was one of disappointment as the reception area wasn't very special, with its red and white plastic chairs, it was also very hot as open frontage. However, the rooms we had were fine, ground floor spa rooms. They were clean and we always had plenty of hot water and an effecient a.c. Doors and wood floors could do with some maintenance, they needed varnishing. Location perfect for us, right on the beach and a few steps out of the hotel and on the main street of Lamai, which had enough shops to keep us entertained during the evening, probably a few too many massage shops and tailors. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the staff attentive. plenty of restaurants to sample on the main street and several along the beach front. Samui wasn't as spectacular as I had imagined it to be, I think some of the Greek Islands are just as pretty if not more so. However, after a hectic time in Bangkok and Chaing Mai, it made for a nice relaxing end to the holiday, and if we returned to Samui, would probably stay here again.
