Overall we found the location quiet and...
Overall we found the location quiet and peaceful despite the animals on site!  The pool closest to our Bungalow was large and clean and looked directly on to the beach and sea.  We did however have problems with lizards getting into the room.  When checking in we would advise to look around the room thoroughly for any cracks where the local wildlife can get in.  When we drew a picture of a lizard and pointed to the room the staff were helplful, moving us first and then catching the lizard that entered our second room.  We then plugged all the holes with tissue paper.  This was only a minor hitch in what was a very pleasant stay at the Orchid.  With regard to food we would also recommend the restaurant down the road for both service and food quality. Final warning - this area is quiet so if you want bright lights and hustle bustle on your door step then consider something in Lamai itself.  If you are a couple and want more privacy then this place is on the money.

We just stayed 12 nights. First impression was not  good, but after setteling down we got to love the place. The service is the worst I have seen in Thailand but the property and locationis really nice. Big nice pools, right by the beach. Nice and quite. Perfect with transport to Lamai when you want some noice. 2 really nice local restaurants around the corner and an family mart. Be aware that on the property it is a small " zoo" and show every day with birds and tigers. There is a bit of noice during the show. All the birds are placed on the property of the Samui Orchid Resort in Koh Samui Island. Very nice.

The resort is ok-the place is quite...
The resort is ok-the place is quite run down and needs freshening up. The staff are most unhelpful-no pleasentries. The breakfast is awful-eat at the restaurant down the road! However, the room was a nice size and was cleaned very well each day. The location is good if you are looking for a relaxing holiday-far enough away from the noise and smells of Lamai. Overall, fair value for the price.

Was an ok basic hotel. However,...
Was an ok basic hotel. However, when we stayed there was some sort of filming going on which meant that there was no bar or daytime food facility. It also meant that one of the pools was closed and the one that was open was right next to all the engineers working on the site which meant you were watched whilst swimming! Room basic but clean. Pool had lots of broken tiles and in the end we left the hotel after one night and spent the rest of the holiday in a different hotel. Not the relaxing getaway we hoped for.

MY HUSBAND AND I  SPENT 12 DAYS...
MY HUSBAND AND I  SPENT 12 DAYS AT THIS HOTEL IN JULY AND HAD A BRILLIANT TIME. IT IS SO RELAXED, THE STAFF ARE FRIENDLY & HELPFUL, THE FOOD IS GOOD AND THERE IS PLENTY TO SEE AND DO. WE ARE GOING BACK NEXT YEAR AS WE ENJOYED IT THAT MUCH.

My wife and I spent 2 weeks...
My wife and I spent 2 weeks here in feb./02. What a beautiful,easy going place. Great food at 'Simple Life' restaurant as well as on site andlovely beach and grounds. Very few people in immediate area yet within striking distance of Lamai and other areas. Super value for terrific accomodations especially for cheap canadians like us.
