Had a wonderful stay with the family...
Had a wonderful stay with the family on Junior Suite Bungalow Oct 2008. The Bungalow is right on the beach, have own swimmingpool in the bathroom. Resort has also really fantastic swimmingpool (also own for children) with seaview. Lamai beach and the sea are clean, so suitable for families with children.

Only negative to say is that breakfast according to information should be served from 7:00 am till 10:00 am, if we came at f.ex. 9:30 am they had already started to clear the breakfast.

Second stay at Sand Sea resort and...
Second stay at Sand Sea resort and still as good second time round, we had the deluxe bungalow on the beach again and these are great value for money, only complaint would be time for a newer comfier mattress. The new rooms built next to the pool look fantastic and next time will try one of those. Breakfast is not a huge variety but food at the restaurant is excellent quality. Highly recommended if you are not requiring all the little luxuries, location and value for money win hands down.

I had quite a nice stay in...
I had quite a nice stay in the Sand Sea Resort. There are some good things to say about it. Location - 10-15 minutes walk from Lamai centre. Right on the beach. Also right on a main road so to get to Chaweng you can just walk to the road and hail very cheap transport. 50 baht each way on the converted red pick-up trucks. Pool - Quite nice, not huge, but not crowded either. Breakfast - Good selection with a lovely lady making your eggs Wi-fi - You have to pay 100 baht an hour, and the connection isn't very fast, but at least you have the option. The only thing I would say about this resort is that in my view it's one of those places where the degree to which you like the place depends on the specific room you get. I had a bungalow with a so called 'garden view' but found that it didn't have any kind of a view at all, and was quite claustrophobic because it was stuck between the other bungalows. I think that if you had one with a sea fron or pool view, you'd probably be better off. All in all, better than average, and I would stay there again, but I would only do so if a good room was available.

the cabin on beach we booked was...
the cabin on beach we booked was not worth the money, better value up the beach, They offered us a free upgrade, which we took. these were far better rooms, and i loved the gardens, staff and swimming pool. The end of the beach was not the nicest swimming, but we just walked to the far end every day and swam there . Good friendly volley ball game with staff and guests on beach each day

At the moment there is alot of...
At the moment there is alot of building construction resulting in constant hammering and drilling from 7.00.a.m.until late afternoon, resulting in the pool being almost unbearable on one occoasion there was a cloud of dust hanging over the pool. The beach was fine and the sea was lovely but not much to see if you are a snorkler. There was an awful smell near the restaurant most mornings when we were having breakfast. On the positive side we had an ocean view room which was excellent location the staff were very friendly and helpful. The short walk across the beach into Lamai town was really a lovely pleasure. Breakfast was also very good and the beach dogs were friuendly to everyone but the venders.

The location of the place is fantastic....
The location of the place is fantastic. The room was big enough for one person, although at a push it would do two people. The bathroom was really in need of a make over however it worked perfectly fine. For buget travellers it was a nice change to roughing it and the place was very clean. Their food was great and pretty reasonably priced also.
