Stayed 5 nights at the Sala Samui...
Stayed 5 nights at the Sala Samui resort at the end of May. It's a fantastic hotel, beautifully designed. I disagree with the service comments below. We found the service friendly and the staff would do absolutely anything for you. Nor did we find the service slow. This included great attention to adapting the already very good menu for specific dietary needs.
We stayed in a standard room which was great. The only area that wasn't perfect was that the outside bathroom gets bouiling hot as, being outside, it's not air-con.
Would definitely consider returning. For a hotel of this standard, I'd say it was pretty good value for money.

The Sala Samui Resort & Spa hotel is amazing! We stayed here for 5 days in the middle of May and really enjoyed ourselves. We had a Sala Pool Villa and it was well worth the money for your own garden and pool! It is expensive but we have stayed at cheaper places in Thailand and you get what you pay for. The hotel is so quiet but it is only 10 mins to Chaweng. The beach is perfect, the service is good but a bit slow, the reception staff are helpful and we took advantage of their taxi service. They could do with more fans in the restaurants and some protection against the flies and mosquitos while you are eating. The portions could also do with being a bit bigger. The spa was expensive compared to other spas in the area and the treatments were not any better. However I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a quiet and luxurious holiday at a brand new hotel!

We honeymooned at the Sala Samui Resort for 7 nights and loved the place!
The Sala Pool Vilas were extremley private and romantic and enabled you to get away from it all. The outdoor bathroom was a nice touch, especially the rainfall shower!!
If staying at your villa doesn't take your fancy, there are 2 massive pools right by the beach with lots of comfy deck chairs.
The restaurant food was very good, although service was slow (but who's in a rush anyway!) and reasonably priced.
Definitely recommended! We'll be back.

Dear Sir,
The hotel is indeed a 5 star accomodation, but service wise its really a disappointment.
Upon checking in, we were told there will be no late check out for us when we did request through the internet.
And when we did call the reception again, the remark was we are just staying for 1 night. After much bargaining, we (imagine we have to do that) were "allowed" to check out at 1pm, when we did inform the staff nicely that our flights were at 1640hrs. We just wanted to have a late check out at 2-3pm.
Clearly we were not taken as valued guests. Should there be preferential treatment if we were to stay 1 night compared to 3 nights?
Checking in have to be after 4pm and check out by 12pm. That should be more flexible. And the staff should treat all the guest equally.
I hope the management will see into this matter, and perhaps improve on the quality of services rendered at the reception.

Modern Hotel located within easy access to chaweng beach where numerous bars & resturants are located.
Good hotel if you want to relax by the pools & indulge in the spa treatments
The balcony rooms are unusally designed in their layout & are different to the normal hotel rooms.The hotel also offers pool villas, however most rooms & villas do not have a Sea view.
The Sala Samui Resort & Spa hotel has a good lap pool for seroius swimmers but lacks a Gym.
Overall a nice Holiday Resort Hotel.
