As always in Koh Samui you can't really go wrong if your staying on the beach front. Ideal location about 100 yards from the start of the bars, so you don't really have noise problems, resort is set out well and the restaurant is top drawer!! Would recommend to anyone..

If you are booking in at the Island, you are doing so because you dont want to pay for a 5 star resort...With this in mind I can not fault it.
If I had to be picky: the service is perhaps a bit slow - but always friendly. The room is perhaps a little small - but clean and the air-con keeps it cool in any case - If you intend to spend most of your holiday in the room, save your money and stay at home!!
The new pool is very nice and the buffet breakfast is good...you are literally 200m from the Green Mango and Koh Samui nightlife...but the resort gardens and the beach front restaurant offer a very quiet and relaxing alternative - Simly can't fault it considering the cost and would recommend for those looking to save a few $$$

We found this hotel in the internet and it looked really nice place to stay.The bungalows looked big and very cousy.
How ever the reality was quite different when we got there.
The location of The Island Resort and Spa is perfect but the bungalows just weren´t anything like what was promised.
We stayd in the "deluxe bungalow" and the bathroom was in poor condition and the total interior of the bungalow was just not very nice.Ok, it´s a 2 star place but still...
The staff in The Island Resort and Spa is very frindly and the service is good.
The swimmingpool is good size but the surroundings of the area could be a bit cleaner.
The breakfast of the place is "ok".They could chance it every now and then.We stayed in the Resort for 2 weeks so in the end eating the same stuff for 2 weeks gets a bit too much..
One of the reasons also were because there were(suppose to be)Spa in this Resort but suprise suprise there is not. You have to walk about 7 min. to get there.
So maybe this Resort should chance their name also?!
If I ever visit Koh Samui again I don´t think I´ll be staying in The Island Resort and Spa.
We saw other more nicer resorts with the same price so we´ll try one of them next time.

when we arrived at the hotel we had not been informed of the construction work that was going on beside the swimming pool and directly in front of our room. for the three of us, we were to share a room designed for two people - the double bed was squashed in with a single bed (this was not what was described on the hotel's details. we had breakfast and evening meals at the hotel which were good - great choice of food and service was not bad. Praise goes to Yungut Yun (trainee waiter) - he made us feel very welcome with his funny comments and hospitality - please pass our comments to him. on checking out of the hotel, we had asked for a room to change/shower in before we headed out to the airport and were shown to the meeting room. this did not have anywhere private to change in, no mirror, and substandard washing facilities. in fact when we asked for three towels for the three of us, we were given a look of surprise as to why we needed 'so many'!! the resort was one of the calmest of all the others which is ideal if you don't want any noise and just want to relax - and it helped that the waiters etc were very helpful and friendly. on the whole i would not return to stay given the service we received otherwise, but perhaps to return for meals thanks to the hospitality of the dinner staff. i would not recommend for anyone else to stay here.

as we arrived to the hotel we were very surprised to see that the room is very small allthough we booked a triple room. on top of that we discovered that the hotel is currently under renovation and as a result of that we couldnt use the swimming pool.
to our opinion a decent dealer is not allowed to sell such product and as a result of that we were very disappointed.

Great stay, only thing was the pool was under construction, at time of booking this was not mentioned. Friendly Staff and good food, location is close to shops yet away from the noise.

I originally booked only 2 nights at The Island resort as I was a bit dubious about some of the reviews that I had seen on here. Me and my girlfriend thought it would be best to book only 2 nights incase we didnt like it - if we did then we thought that maybe we could get it a bit cheaper direct from the hotel? (hard to imagine, but it was actually cheaper booking through this site!)
As soon as we got there we knew we were going to stay for longer! We booked a "seaview" apartment and it was lovely. Very clean, nice decor and a good size for the 2 of us. Not many of the rooms are actually ON the beach as you would imagine from some pictures, but the seaview apartments are no more than 20 metres away from the beach itself.
All of the staff that worked here were very friendly towards us all the time. They couldnt do enough for us! The food in the hotel was also very nice but the fresh seafood could be considered as a bit expensive by Thailands standards. At night, the resturant tables are put out onto the sand which makes a nice change from the same old resturants.
The room was very comfortable and cleaned every day by the maids. The bathroom was a good size and was also nice and clean. The shower water was always of a decent temperature to wash with.
I would DEFINATELY stay here again!!

Located in the hart of Chaweng Beach, it is perfect for the fun and action lovers.
For the price I got from Asiarooms, it is a real good bargain. If you look for a quiet secluded place it is not your choice, although it is fairly quiet in the nicely kept garden ad trees in the hotel area. It has a direct beach access like most other hotels in Samui.
Beach service is limited to just a few chairs, while other hotels seemed to have much more. If you arrive after 9AM, you'll be sitting on the sand.
the price I got from Asiarooms (1,350 B/night) was substantially lower that what I paid for the extra night I reserved while being there (1,900B).

On the web site "wind surfing" is advertised, and that's the main reaso I went there. But unfortunately there was no wind surfing facilities.
A nice little hotel. A bit out of the way for going to most places. But scooter rentals are everywhere. I would recommend staying there for a couple of nights and then looking for a place closer to the center.
I stayed there for 5 nights in feb-06. For 19$ a night it's a good deal. But there are a lot of hotels around that can meet the same price and with better locations.
The beach is very narrow, and the water in this part is pretty merki.
