I would not recommend anyone to stay...
I would not recommend anyone to stay at this hotel. From start to finish it was a total nightmare and a waste of money. On our first day our room was a huge disappointment. Although a reasonable size, the bacolny was small and dirty and looked out over an adjoining property which you could literally reach out and touch. Dara has two backpacker properties both sides of it and both are very run down and dirty not allowing for much of a "view". Our bathroom had two basins which was a nice touch except that the taps to both basins were practically hanging off. Every time we turned on the taps to the basins, turned on the shower, the bath or flushed the toilet there was a stench which made us want to heave. Think drains and you are halfway there. Then later on in the day our air con decided to pack up. We complained that evening and was told that we could move to a room on the floor below. We agreed we would move the following morning. After a long day we were ready for a good nights sleep except that we didn't get one because one of the backpacker places next door was having a party which went on to around 6am. We complained again but the staff did not take us very seriously and after much debate they finally moved us to another room to the front of the hotel. Thankfully this was a slightly better room and we managed to get some sleep for the next few nights although the sickening stench in the bathroom was still there. On complaining again we were told that we just had to run the taps for 10 minutes and the smell would go away. Oh yes almost forgot, the rooms at Dara are set out that your toilet and shower cubicle are at the front of your room and have a full length glass panel each side of them so that anyone walking along the pathway can watch you in full glory having a shower or taking a number 2. Nice touch Dara!
