Great Value
I stayed in the standard room, which like others have mentioned is in a building block behind the main hotel. As a single female, this did make me feel a bit uneasy at night, but it was okay. The room itself was great and clean. The staff are friendly and speak English very well. The hotel gym is a nice addition, and it is actually quite good. It has everything you need, and the hotel has installed a/c in the gym to make your work out bearable. The hotel's beach was the highlight - nice sun chairs with restaurant/drink service if you like, nice water and sand, and not over crowded at all. There are a few restaurants, minimarts and massage store close by, so this place is great if you're after a relaxing pool/beachside hotel. If you want a bit more liveliness, I recommend hiring a scooter or car so you have easy/cheap access to Chaweng.
You can easily find better
We didn't face any problems as such while staying at the hotel but it doesn't give you an experience to remember. The hotel is a little hard to find as the sign from the road is very small. If you are taking the cheap rooms, then don't bother at all as the view around is terrible. We had booked the cheaper room but promptly paid extra to get the more expensive ones as soon as we arrived.
Our room had a pool view. To be fair to the hotel, the pool is actually very good and you can see the sea in the distance from the pool which is nice. The room is large enough, has a nice balcony and the beds are comfortable. The room itself was clean however I did spot a few cobwebs on the window in the toilet. That wasn't very nice.
The restaurant is actually very nice and serves nice food. Also, it's right on the beach and that is always wonderful. The location of the hotel is also good as the street just outside has a few nice places to eat and a lot of places to get a nice massage. Also, for the party-goers, Chaweng is only about 10 mins by scooter which is great.
Although the hotel didn't have anything particularly wrong with it, it didn't do anything much for me. I stayed in better places on my trip to Thailand and you will easily be able to find a better hotel is the amount you'll end up paying for the expensive room.

Would go back
1st time in Choengmon Beach its a no frills hotel ,having said that don't be put off as we would go back again.Our room was large ,very clean with TV,Safety Deposit Box,Fridge Balcony over looking nice pool,the beach is 1min away with lots of sun beds you get beach towels from reception you just sign for them.Didn't eat in restaurant as there are lots of places on beach and road side to choose from.Found management and staff very helpful,my husband used the gym and said it was very good.Choengmon Beach Hotel is good value for money paid .
Not friendly
The hotel staff was not friendly or helpful. They put us in a room across the parking lot from the other rooms, which was not a nice area. We had to walk across the dark lot to reach the rest of the hotel at night or down a a dark road to the main road. The room was old and not well kept. The chair in the room was green, but gray with grime and dirt. There were also a lot of bugs in the room. The staff could not or would not help us when we asked for taxi service and told us to walk out to the main road with all our bags and catch one there. The pool was nice and warm and the water was clean. The beach was also beautiful with very few waves and easy to swim in. However, something in the sea water stung me many times and I had to get out of the water. I looked it up online and it was apparently a kind of microscopic jellyfish. The sting was very itchy and harsh and may cause some people to get a rash, so I wouldn't recommend swimming at the beach if you are sensitive to this.
Beach front restaurant
Hotel was great and staff really friendly. I cannot say the same for the restaurant staff. They were very abrupt. I was quite shocked as everyone else has been lovely in Thailand. Gave them a second chance and went back a second night.

Good Value Hotel
Rooms are a good size and perfectly comfortable. Aircon was good and worked fine. The only minus was the poor shower in the bathroom. Swimming pool was clean and great for doing lengths. Beachside restaurant is OK but there are cheaper options in town unless the sea view is a must. Weather was a bit rough when we were there which might explain why so much rubbish was thrown up on the beach. We did see an employee one morning making some attempt to clean up but if the hotel was more savvy he would have been out there much earlier. But on the whole an extremely good value hotel for the price.

The staff were very helpfull and knowledgable of what was available in area.The pool was nice and clean,the beach only 50m from pool ,adequate parking,didnt use the hotel restaurant as after looking at the menu found it a bit limited, drinks on beach from hotel bar quite expensive.
The only problem for us with the beach was the constant roar of Jet ski which seemed to have very little regard for bathers.
The air conditioner was a little noisy but got used to it after 1st night. The place is an absolute bargain for the price.

My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights in April in the main building, overlooking the swimming pool.
The room was spacious and clean and the pool was great!
We booked 2 tours with Ron, who runs a dive shop on the beach, and both were well arranged and proved to be good value for money.
The restaurant on the beach is nice, even though a little bit over-priced.
An overall good stay for a couple of days, would probably come back.

Excellent location, only 5-10 minutes from chaweng(noisy). friendly, helpful, quick service. originally i reserved a room for 5 days...ended up cancelling my other hotel and staying here another week. then after traveling to other islands , i returned for another two weeks. directly on beach (i'd rate as 4th nicest beach on entire island), with very good fitness room. quiet yet close to all action. rented motorcycle from location....fast and cheap. cant say enough how good they are.
