Our Stay
Stayed for 3 nights 25.5 - 27.5. Very much out of season with only 6 rooms taken in the whole hotel. Thus the buffet breakfast tended to be 'cook on demand' rather than the traditional Thai spread! Hotel shop was closed. That said - nothing was too much trouble. Perfectly situated between Mae Haad & Sairee but take a torch if you intend to walk to Sairee as the first part from the hotel to the start of the 'promenade' was pitch black in parts - again could be because many shops restaurants etc were closed en route. After that, there is a paved path or you can take the beach! Room more spartan than the traditional 4/5 star hotels we have got used to but we upgraded & room was huge! Bed was 8 foot (think it was 2 x 4 foot beds pushed together). Pool lovely. Had everything you needed for a holiday. Mae Haad is the working town but has plenty of shops & restaurants. Sairee is the tourist part with loads restaurants & bars along sea front - with bean bags, etc Night life very much suited to under 30's and suspect it gets a bit wild in high season which means the Montra is ideal because it is within easy walking of both places but away from the noise! Did a lovely walk from the hotel all the way to Baan Chalok. A bit rough for about 50 yards in one stretch otherwise easy walking following the coast with numerous small coves to take a dip and the small tradional Thai 'bungalow' style resorts offering bars & food along the way. (Although don't try it with a push chair or very young kids - too hot!) Can then get taxi or boat back. Overall, recommend Tao - has a lot of the old Thailand about it, laid back & informal, wish we'd spent a couple of nights more there. And if you want a well situated clean 'no frills' hotel, this is perfect.

deluxe room is nice of size. The breakfast is a bit poor, lot's of eggs and rice, some fruits, marmelade, but that is it. We really mist cheese or ham or salads at breakfast. A car was waiting for us on arrival at the pier, without cost, very friendly! They really had no idea how to use my creditcard, but a motorbike took me to the best ATM, so problem solved! Overall a nice hotel and especially the badroom was worth the extra costs, if you compare it to the low budget hotels on koh Tao!

The hotel provides very good accommodation. The rooms are large and very well equipped, whilst the pool is excellent. I do however like reception staff to look directly at me when a conversation is taking place, rather than at their computer.I did make this point and the situation improved. In such a beautiful hotel it was surprising to find that the breakfast room is so dismal and the service quite poor. If we stayed at this hotel in the future it would have to be on a room only basis. Then , with a suitable reduction in the room rate it would provide very good value for money.

Very nice top-end hotel in Ko Tao....
Very nice top-end hotel in Ko Tao. Beautiful pool and beach. Lovely staff and facilities. Rooms are very spacious and luxurious. It is top-end and is relatively expensive compared to some cheaper but no less charming accomodation elsewhere in Ko Tao. The island is so beautiful that you can stay anywhere and still have a great time.

Overall good resort. Is not finished, the spa part is still missing. The mae head location is not ideal as all the action is in Sairee. breakfast can be better, but improved during the stay. Staff very helpfull.

Not much choice of decent hotels on...
Not much choice of decent hotels on Koh Tao, either backpackers bungalows or one 5 star luxury resort in the middle on nowhere. I booked this based on the one review on Asia Rooms. Whilst it is a nice, modern hotel it is most certainly not 4 star. It lacks the facilities and extra touches that I expected. It is just off the main street at the end of a sandy track so is very quiet. The breakfast was absolutely terrible every morning, it you can book room only do this and go out for breakfast at the numerous coffee shops in the resort which offer very good value for money. Try Cafe del Sol at the end of the road who serve the best pizzas in the world. The hotel does come to meet you from the boat and drops you back off free of charge. Note, there is building work in progress immediately next to the hotel which made it quite noisy during our stay.

A brand new hotel in Koh tao...
A brand new hotel in Koh tao opened last june 2008. We spent 4 days in this hotel. Location is close to the main Pier. It is ideally situated close to Koh Tao main street and also close to SAIDEE Beach with its lively evening cool atmosphere. Bedrooms are hudge. 2 swimming pools, its own restaurant. It offers one of the best accodomation for whom searching to avoid cheap guesthouses, poor standard hotels and Expensive Luxury hotels with "only the view to offer". (We tried Paradise View resort). We took PADI OPEN WATER scuba diving course. No doubt this is going to be a reference on Koh Tao. We had a great stay. Many thanks. Mikael (36) & Coralie (30), French, August'08
