Remote Paradise
The Paradise hotel has an idyllic spot which is perfect if you want to do nothing but read, sleep and sunbathe. It has a white sandy beach and is pretty perfect for a couples retreat. However if you want to wander off in search of other restaurants, etc, you will be disappointed. The Paradise is far from anything else so the audience is captive, I think this is sometimes reflected in the food where the standard isn't always as good as it should be for the price. Further, many of the juices they serve are not fresh but powdered or tinned which is disappointing and cocktails come without ice. they could just make cubes from bottled water which would be nice.
We did a few trips with them - the fishing was fun and very relaxing. However I would not recommend the sunset cruise as you'll be chasing sunsets from concrete piers before being taken to a restaurant that was literally over a swamp so we were eating insects with every mouthful as well as getting bitten to shreds.
The room was nice, simple and small - not immaculate but I think that is because it needs a bit of redecoration and we didn't really use the jacuzzi as it was just too hot.
As the tide went out really far, they offer free boat rides to a nearby island where you can also borrow snorkels. However, the water here is really low and is fully of long spiky anemones so you need to be careful - not great snorkeling as a result. We also took the kayaks out which was good fun and they recommend an island to visit. Make sure you get info on the currents.

My wife and me have been for...
My wife and me have been for a week in the Paradise. We have chosen the Paradise to have a really quiet week. However, this experience was not always as positive as I have read before on TA. They are currently building a new house which caused a lot of noise. There was a constant hammering and sawing noise, which you even could hear all day long on the beach. Also the powerlines giving the hotel electricity make a lot of noise. Lying on the beach you hear a constant whistling noise. Which can make you crazy after a while and is the beginning of a tinnitus. This noise is always there. The beach is nice if you have high tide. There is a difference between high and low tide of nearly 1.6m which means, everything is fine during high tide but in low tide, the water is completely gone. Also, if the water is gone, this is not a sand beach. You will step on a lot of stones and my recommendation is to take some shoes with you to go into the water. It is not possible during low tide to swim in the sea. As other advisors have mentioned, the staff could better be trained in English. Be careful in Thailand, because if they say Yes Yes to you, it means they didn't understand you. The food is reasonably priced and Thai food, pizza and burgers start at around 250 THB currently 5 Euros. Coke and beer around 80 THB and Cocktail 240-300 THB. The choice is limited. So after a week you are desperate to eat something different. The breakfast is a buffet which is every day the same and you don't get the variety you expect from such a high priced hotel. Comparing with the Marriott Resort and Spa Bangkok the breakfast was a joke. Keeping in mind, that the Marriott is only half price of the Paradise. Good thing, clean rooms. We stayed in a Jacuzzi Deluxe. Nice bed. Friendly staff. Go to the village tour with Yut. Very impressive. Would I go back? Probably not, as I think the hotel is completely overprized. The hotel would get a much better rating if it is half prized. We paid 250Euro per night and this is definitely too much for the value you get.

We recently stayed at the Paradise Koh...
We recently stayed at the Paradise Koh Yao for two weeks. The name "Paradise' is indeed the best way to describe it. It is difficult to imagine how a resort could possibly be more perfect. The developers have gone to great effort to make as little impact on environment as possible. Its quiet, remote and exclusive. Guests should be made aware that, aside from resort-arranged activities and excursions, there is little else to do. Apart from playing with hermit crabs on the bar or watching TV there is nothing to do in the evenings. This is ideal for those who want a lazy quite beach holiday, but is likely to be frustrating for those looking for some kind of evening entertainment. There are some negatives that management should address. Firstly, the return boat transfers from Phuket to the resort were 7200 Baht per couple - this was the same price as two return flights from Singapore to Phuket on Tiger Airways! So that was slightly irritating, especially when there is no other practical way to reach the resort. Restaurant service staff also aloof and often its quite an effort to get their attention. But when you do they're polite and efficient. We highly recommend the resort to everyone and it certainly would take alot to beat this place. We will return to the Paradise at Koh Yao at every possible opportunity.
