We've just checked out after staying 4 nights. There were a few things that made me growl.......The receptionists were comically unfriendly - I think the head receptionist on the day we checked in could teach Basil Fawlty a thing or two! We were allocated a twin room, despite mentioning we were honeymooners, but with a bit of persistance they eventually found us a double instead.
The breakfast was OK, your usual hotel buffet, but they really need to get some covers for the fruit, pastries and jams as they were covered with flies.
The whole place seemed a bit pricey - I called housekeeping for an iron, only to be told that they 'don't provide that service' but I could send my clothes to be pressed (40Bt for a skirt. To put that into perspective, the laundry at the entrance to the hotel charges 60Bt to iron 1kg!). Plus the internet was astronomically expensive compared to the cafes nearby.
Finally - we requested a late check-out - they gave us an extra hour. At 12:45 we had a porter knocking on our door wanting our bags. When I explained we weren't ready he waited outside the room, knocking twice more (just in case, I guess) - loads of points for enthusiasm, but we weren't particulaly impressed.
Having said that, the rest of the Ao Nang Villa in Krabi staff were really friendly and helpful, the pool was great (and empty!), plus the hotel's in a good position for the restaurants and bars in Ao Nang, and the boats to Railay and Phi Phi. It's a bit over-priced and popular with tour groups, but if the price was right I'd stay again (if only to have a laugh at the receptionists!)
