Best 2 week holiday of my life
I have to be honest and say we had an upgrade for whatever reason when we go there, but our friends stayed in the original rooms we had/they booked and they had nothing to moan about.
We ended up in the privacy cottages which if you wanted a bit of peace with the other half I can not recommend enough and that is what I would day about the whole experience with the hotel and in fact the whole island.
We went to Bangkok and to Phi Phi during our time but coming back to Railay was just the best.
They have tried to keep the island as "Thai" as possible so there are some small translation problems but they were some of the friendliest people I have met and I would love to go back there again tomorrow !

This hotel has great potential, though the execution is just not there. Stay else where.
The only thing going for the hotel is the location.
On arrival all was good. I requested a baby cot, one was delivered, were the side gate would not lock in place as well as exposed nails. The second one was a little better though its had seen better days.
The rooms do not get cleaned properly, they cant even wipe down the table, sweep up the dead ants, or a simple thing like emptying the ash tray. We had a clean towel with visible blood stains and smudges, not good when you notice it as you begin to wipe down your baby.
Service at lunch was terrible, did not return for lunch or dinner after the first experience.
If you are use the great thai service you will not get it here.
You have to pay 100baht for a bucket of ice. You only have wifi around reception not in the room.

A piece of heaven
I was looking for a very relaxing place in a beach surrounded by cliffs and jungle, and this place is exactly what I was looking for.
I do not think this is a place for elders or people with disabilities because sometimes as It happened with us, you have to walk through the sea to take the boat. The water arrived above our waits when we finally could reach the boat. I suggest to travel very light.
Other that this inconvenient be prepare to enjoy a piece of heaven.

Stayed at one of the Privacy Cottages for a total of 5 days, as I've read a number of reviews before i left for the hotel, there were numerous complaints about the smell from the toilet. With that, I brought a chunk of charcoal and dropped a small piece into the drain. Voila!
Asides from that, as booking through asiarooms did not provide any airport transfers, i tried contacting the hotel but there was no reply from them (via email) Upon arriving at Railay Resort, I discovered that the resort does provide airport transfer and they've even worked out the mangrove swamp problem with a tractor. GENIUS!
Finally, I also read a number of comments on how bad the service was at the restaurant and was quite worried about eating there but to my surprise the service was EXCELLENT!

A beautifull resort straight away near the Railay beach with a wonderfull sunset view, fully recommended. The hotel staff friendly and helpfull. The food amazing with variety of choices to choose from. The room very big, clean at all times...just the aircondition is a bit noisy during the night, but that´s the only "problem" i came along with.

We had the privacy villa. Besides the toilet which could have been better (in terms of the layout and smell - there was a partcular odour from the toilet throughout our stay - we had air freshners so it was manageable) and the most of the time not working jacuzzi, everything else was superb. The food at the restaraunt especially was incredible! We were addicted to the restaraunt that all of our dinners and almost all of our meals were at the restaraunt. Overlooking a wonderful sunset, with great food and excellent service - what more could a honeymooning couple ask for?
For rock climbing enthusiast, this place is a heaven with so many great walls to climb and rewarding view to source out after a great climb!

i've stayed at this hotel several times and it always delivers. the real treat is the location. This side of Railay beach is among the best beach locations in thailand.

Excellent only let down by poor service in the restuarant at lunch. Simple to fix use one of the many other options ar Railay!

A pier should be built so newcomers do not have to wade in the water.
The staff was unbelievably ignorant of anything we asked them, such as how to book transport to another island, renting kayaks, or making phone calls even. We could find out nothing about golf courses in Krabi, which we were particularly interested in, or any inquiries about the area.
The setting however, is absolutely stunning. The pool and beach area was wonderful, but the bar at the pool had really disappointing service. The restaurant was adequate, but we would have liked to have seen a little more variety in the breakfast menu from day to day.
