Alis Hotel.
Thanks to Asia Rooms.Com which made my hotel booking simple, easy and trustworthy.Quality of Alis hotel overall is good taking into consideration numbers of rooms the hotel has.The hotel is clean. The room is clean, ambiance inside the room is good for holidays, equivalent to rate charged.Swimming pool is cleaned every morning,it has special corner for kids to enjoy the swimming pool.Breakfast is well provided however it needs to add variety of foods to give choices to guests.
Improvement need to be done by the hotel management is to provide concierge.Understandably due to number of rooms the hotel has it employs less staff.Hence the management of the hotel could resort to multitasking staff to provide concierge to staff.
Another aspect need improvement is abandoned, unattended decoration pool inside hotel building. One is located under stairs first floor and another one is located under stairs ground floor. In my opinion unattended pool is a perfect place for mosquito to breed. This is why there are many mosquitoes inside my room at night. If the management of the hotel solve this problem and directed the staff to clean and beautify the abandoned pool it would certainly add beauty to the building.
However mosquitoes is small problem for me and my family and we can manage it.
Overall staying at Alis hotel is worth of my money.

Improvise
The first impression is not as appealing to the image posted on the internet. Though my expectation is not high but this hotel needs to have some life. When we arrive there is just the receptionist on the desk and the place seems lonely. They have like huge space at the lobby with the pool table and home theatre that seems to me have not been used. The drawback is that you have to climb the stairs to your room which is located on the fourth floor. The room is big with stairs that lead us to the outdoor bathtub. We did not use the bathtub as it is not in good condition. The hotel beside us looks more lively as we look out through our window. Apart from this the bed, the tv, the fridge and the toilet was satisfactory.

Although the room was big(mind you, we stayed in the club room)it was not comfortable at all. The bath tub was useless. It looked so dirty and manky that you would ot go anywhere near it. Bed was rock hard. Room was infested with insects at night as the windows and doors don't shut well. Pool was ok... the bar though only opens during high season, apparently. No restaurant as well. There were 2 nights where the bloke at the reception was fast asleep and we helped ourselves to the room keys(got behind the counter) and he was oblivious to it. The free pool table that sounds like a highlight is pretty useless. all bars in Krabi offer free pool tables anyway. you'll be greeted by cockroaches and mosquitoes if you played at the hotel. if you are driving, it is impossible to find the hotel as there are no signs. well, do i really have to go on??

This is our second stay at Alis...
This is our second stay at Alis and we did not find the experience as pleasant as the first stay. Although the breakfast spread has improved, I must say the counter service has not. When I asked the counter staff whether she could help us to extend the check out time (our flight was at 9pm plus), what we received was a blunt and curt reply "No". The service was not as warm as before, with the exception of the bell boys. Furthermore, there were lots of mosquitos around the lobby, video hall and even in our room.

Great hotel with lovely rooms and great...
Great hotel with lovely rooms and great service! Loved the Moroccan deco with its earthy tones and architecture. Location was slightly off Ao Nang beach, about a 8-10min walk to the beach and main stretch. But there were things to look at along the way so it's not a problem. No elevator though, so if you stay on the top floor (I believe there were 4 floors), you'll have to walk up a flight of stairs, not too good for the elderly. Room was of a good size, new and clean. Don't expect much of a view as my room was facing the neighbouring hotel pool. Bathroom was nicely tiled and quite provocative as only glass wall separates the room and the bathroom! However, there's a shower curtain to cover the glass should you get shy :P Overall, a lovely stay and the staff was always happy to serve you. Would definitely stay there again!

Nice hotel overall, considering we are quite...
Nice hotel overall, considering we are quite plucky customer. Negative 1: breakfast, food quite tasty but almost the same everyday.... been to a lot of hotels in the world but this hotel really offer the most limited nos of items i ever seen. Negative 2: no lift, our room on level 4, so imagine have to climb all the way up after a tired day, also very inconvenient for handicap. Negative 3: Swimming pool pretty tiny as compare to Pakasai(beside the hotel). Negative 4: Super hard bed, im used to sleeping on firm matteress but the hotel bed is even too hard for me to get used to. Positive 1: Nice view and unique theme, overlook the Adaman Sea, room pretty clean. Positive 2: Good location, on a low slope, jus 5 mins walk to shops, massage and seafood restaurant. Positive 3: Free internet, pool table and DVD movie, also the only 3 star hotel in Thailand which have Sony TV and DVD player. Good bargain for the price and service provided. Will surely consider staying there again if on budget again.

The duvet covers in our room were smelly. The wardrobe was not clean and I felt I couldn't use it. Not much storage for clothes etc, no full length mirror, no chest of draws.

Stay: 3 nights Club Room: 25 Positive: This Club Room is spacious. Seaview from bedroom and upstairs open-air tub. Bathroom is big enough for 2. We ordered room service and the pineapple rice was delicious. On the whole, the Staff were eager to please. Negative: Quite a few mosquitoes in the room. Open-air tub was slimey and green with moss, when we requested they clean it, slight improvement but they were nice enough to leave bubble bath for us. The king size bed is actually made up of 2 iron-wrought beds joined together. One bed kept creaking the whole night. Only 2 of the staff can speak and comprehend English proficiently. The buffet breakfast isn't great. Overall: It is a small, intimate hotel suitable for couples. The lack of a lift makes it unsuitable for seniors. No facilities for children. It is a good location if you prefer staying close to the hustle n bustle of Ao Nang, but still want some peace. The beach is quite a distance away. So be prepared to take day trips out.

10 of us travelled to Krabi and...
10 of us travelled to Krabi and chose to stay at the Alis Hotel from 14-17 April after extensive research on the internet. I can't say for the rest but I thought I had a very enjoyable stay. I had a double room booked with a large King-sized bed. The other reviewers are correct to say that the bed was hard but that did not stop me from having a good night's sleep. I particularly liked the rain shower with the glass panel between the shower stall and the bedroom. This of course meant that you could watch tv while having a shower - BRILLIANT! Definitely an idea I'm adopting for my future home... The tv channels had HBO, CNN and other channels so we were kept entertained. The reception staff was ok. Not particularly helpful but not unfriendly either. On the downside, breakfast was very limited (sausage, ham, bacon, fried rice/noodles, bread, waffles, etc). Do not expect a buffet spread. We wanted to book a day trip to go snorkelling at the hotel but after asking around, we decided to book from one of the many travel agents dotted around Ao Nang instead. Probably cheaper as well. The swimming pool is a little small and overlooks the road (!) but it was sufficient for a quick dip. If you lie on your back and look towards the hotel, you could almost imagine that you're in the Mediterranean :) The hotel is NOT located on the main Ao Nang strip so you'd have to walk for a bit (approx 5 mins). If you're in the area, make a right turn from the hotel and walk towards this restaurant called Carnivore. Awesome steaks at great prices. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to travellers if you're looking for a hotel that's small and intimate.
