It's a pity that service was so...
It's a pity that service was so bad... The hotel itself is very nice, with two long swimming pools in the middle, and rooms surrounded by flowers and trees on two sides. Outside the rooms there are tables and chairs that can enjoy the sight of the whole hotel...But... The electricity would stop suddenly without any precaution and then reset again with the control panel for adjusting electrical applicances, say lights, air con, TV, not working properly. During night when we were asleep, this happened and the temperature of the air con was so low that I began to shiver... The next day, I called reception about this and she explained with no apology, and never sent a technician to check. Then I requested for a late check out, then she said very rudely that the standard check out time is 11 am it's already very generous to let us check out at 12pm...I said it's internationally agreed that standard checkout time is 12pm so you mean your hotel is an exception isn't it? She said YES...Then I said I will post this comment...Then again, she very rudely said, IT's UP to YOU, then hanged up... I was so stunned that Thai hotels can have such service...I tried calling guest service, and complained that reception had bad attitude. Before I could realize it's still HER voice she already hanged up the phone... In the end, I called the manager and said they owed me an apology. But I should have said that it's shameful of them that ruined the Thai hotel's overall image.

Really good value! Choose a downstair Pool...
Really good value! Choose a downstair Pool Villa and if you are lucky like we were, you literally walk out the door and three steps later you are in the water!! Breakfast is a good choice, eggs cooked on demand. Its muslim so no bacon and no alcohol for sale- however they have a reasonable chicken ham, and you can buy beer, wine and spirits next door at The Flametree Bar, and its ok to bring it to your table. Dinner wise, the Railay Bay is better at night, netter facilities and better food but thisis the play to stay- an awesome pool around the pool villas, or choose to use the front pool near check in at West Railay. Also, the Spa facilities are beautiful- but its $$$ as they use Jurlique from Australia. would very definately stay here again! note of caution: the boat guys KNOW they have you trapped on the beach and the ONLY way of gettign here is via longtail boat ( dont pack too much as you will need to wade through water with your suitcase to the boat)If you need to get back to Krabi airport via Ao Nang, chances are you will suddenly be the only person going to Ao Nange and will need to purchase the boat on yr own for another 500 BHT attop the 200 BHT you have already paid. Despite the fact you fine peeople to go in your boat, they will say "no" as they others have not bought tickets, and all of a sudden the tickets are not available and they can only transport you and yr partner for the 500 BHT, and despite the protestation about planes and time frames and being held to ransom, they will smile benignly talk in Thai to eachother and keep repeating 500 bht. My advice is to spend yr last night in Ao Nanh, which means if they pull this stunt, you will be able to find either a diff boat or someone to fill another one. Oh and DONT tip hotel staff, as they now EXPECT it, and its NOT a Thai custom...just tip for EXCEPTIONAL service..

We had a very nice stay at...
We had a very nice stay at the resort. The service is excellent and the rooms are great. The scenery is fantastic. The morning buffet is really good, but the hotel restaurant is on other times/meals expensive and the food, especially the thai-food is bad - it seems they use frozen vegetables in the dishes and it taste of nothing. We think the restaurants have become afraid of serving proper thai food - and that really is a shame. Because of the location everything is much more expensive than in other parts of Thailand. If you want to go snorkelling, do not take the recommended tours, but rent a long-tail boat for half or a full day, it's much better and at the same price, if you're more than two it even will be cheaper. Last but not least - do not use the hotel pick-up service, it's much cheaper to go there by boat yourself, and really easy.

The room was great. We stayed in the cheapest rooms (2nd floor) by the pool, and think they're the best anyway. We think the more expensive rooms are not worth maying more for. Restaurant/food was OK for breakfast. But for evening meals, we thought the restaurant at Railay Bay Resort (2 hotels down the beach) had a nicer ambience, more variety, and better quality/value. Would definitely stay here again though - wonderful rooms, and nice pool right by them!

It was our honeymoon and we chose...
It was our honeymoon and we chose to stay in a Spa Villa. Hotel: Medium-sized and cosy. Beautiful landscaping. Great service - staffs were friendly and all smiles. Very helpful too as we had problem with the jacuzzi on the first day which when we called front desk to ask for help, the technician arrived within 5 minutes. Room: Very spacious and nicely decorated with orchids and rose petals. There was a plate of welcome fruits which were replenished daily. Room was cleaned daily and wooden floor was waxed daily too. Felt a bit guilty to leave footprints after cleaners have cleaned the room. The only gripe was jacuzzi did not have heated water as it would be nice to be able to soak in warm water in the evening/night. Facilities and cleanliness: The hotel has 2 pools but we hardly use it as we were on the beach most of the time. Public restrooms near the hotel restaurant were very clean too, just that lighting is a bit dim. Management also made sure that the staff clean up beach front every morning so that the guests can enjoy a nice clean beach. The only management that we noticed did not do their part was the Railei Beach Club next door, which was a shame really coz Railay west really have the finest sand compared to Aonang/Phi Phi/Hong islands. Food: Breakfast was adequate and they came in sets which was understandable since we went during the low season. However towards the end of our stay, breakfast was served buffet style as occupancy went up. Prices of meals at the hotel restaurant were DEFINITELY cheaper compared to other hotels/restaurant at Railay West and they do serve a mean tom-yam goong and green curry chicken. :) Overall: It was a perfect get-away for hubby and myself. Throughly enjoyed our stay with Railay Village and highly recommend this hotel. Despite we went during the low (so-called monsoon) season, we had perfect sunny weather for 5 out of 6 days. The day that it rained, it only lasted for 15 minutes and management has considerately provided umbrellas in the room.

This is a beautiful resort, luxurious but...
This is a beautiful resort, luxurious but with a rustic feel. We splurged on a Spa Villa as it was our honeymoon and the room was fantastic. Spacious, nicely decorated, comfortable (though firm) bed, and nice touches such as flowers floating in the spa and hand basin when we arrived. (Note that the spa in the room only has cold water, which is really all you need in Thailand). We only used one of the pools and it was great - very clean and we had it to ourselves most of the time. My only gripes would be that there is no view of the beach from the room (all the spa villas seem to look out over the main walkway of the resort), the breakfast was fairly ordinary compared to other hotels we stayed at in Thailand in a similar price range, and there is nowhere to hang wet swimming gear/clothes in the room. However, the hotel is in a great location right on Railay Beach and we were surprised to find that the restaurant is very reasonably priced, contrary to what we had read before we went. Unless a beach view is very important to you, I would highly recommend this resort.
