This was the only international standard hotel...
This was the only international standard hotel in the centre of the city and so I chose to stay there. Moderate value for money and the breakfast buffet caters more to Thai tastes than western tastes. Western breakfast menu lacked variety and quality - cooked eggs were not freshly made, ham was served in a dish of lukewarm water and there was not much else to delight a western palate! The rate was not particularly cheap and the hotel has a monopoly, hence value for money not as good as other nearby towns along the coast. Aircon in my room was not working properly and I had to call their maintenance peple twice, after which it was just managing to cool the room. Would only stay there again if it was absolutely essential to be in the centre of the city.

It is a good hotel for the money you pay. Rooms are clean, bathroom is clean. Everything is good. Minibar is cheap (15 bath for a coke = (€ 0.30) The breakfast is poor for european people but 99.9% of the hotels guests are asian so eat asian breakfast. It is good that there is a Tesco lotus supermarket on the other side of the street and there is food enough.

This hotel has all the facilities that...
This hotel has all the facilities that you would expect at a 4/5 star hotel. I stayed there for a few days, including New Year's Eve 2004. Consequently the hotel was full and I had to stay in a Junior Suite, but not expensive by western standards. A fruit bowl was provided. The hotel has at least two restaurants, one of which I sampled, where a la carte food was ok. The hotel also provides an array of night-time entertainment, from the up-to-date Thai disco, which means live rock music, to an outside bar with a small band and the quieter cabaret-type singing in the restaurant. Drinks were about $3 in the disco. The town of Nakhon Si Thammarat does not have a taxi or tuk tuk service, but the hotel will arrange free pick-up and drop-off at the airport by one of their fleet of mini-buses. These can also be hired privately to take you around touring or to the beach about 5 miles away. One downside to the hotel is the lack of English spoken, even by the reception staff, as Nakhon Si Tammarat is up to now not a place for foreign tourists. This could cause some difficulties, but I was fortunate to have a Thai friend, who did most of the talking. Will I go back? Yes. Twin Lotus is the only big hotel in town, but I would go back even if it were not
