Tony
This was the first time my wife and I stayed at the Montien Hotel Pattaya, and we were very pleased with the hotel, its location and its allocated services.
We obtained a very good room rate from asiarooms.com via their website, which included the full buffet breakfast.
We stayed from 6 July, through to 13 July, 2006, in room 602 on the sixth floor and we had an excellent view of the garden area, pool and the beach.
I will chronologically take you through this report from check in to check out.
We arrived on Thursday, 6 July, 2006 around 2.45pm and the check in was smooth and very efficient. It took all of 2 minutes, which included supplying me with our daily breakfast vouchers.
The key given is attached to a large bell and the key is handed in when you leave. It is retrieved via a thin notepad supplied to each guest. ( husband and wife one each etc )
There are three elevators and all were working and extremely fast.
We made our way to our room, which consisted of a built in wardrobe, electronic and very easy to operate built in safe, fully stocked bar fridge, including basic food snacks, coffee and tea making facilities, large mirrors in front of and behind the bed for ease of make up. ( female ) A number of lights throughout the room creating a very ambient atmosphere when required. IDD telephone, remote tv, remote temperature controlled air conditioning. A large size very comfortable bed, which is turned down every night. You are supplied with a dressing gown each and room slippers. The foyer entrance and bathroom is fully tiled and there is carpet laid in the rest of the room to the glass balcony door. There is also a large fly screen, which can be opened and closed that covers half the balcony window. This is good, as at night you can leave it open and have some natural air pass through the room without the threat of mosquitoes and other insects entering the room. The balcony is half moon shaped with two wooden chairs and a table, allowing you to comfortably sit outside and view the area. ( This is also good for drying small items of clothing on balcony, as the western setting sun shines directly upon the rooms ) Behind the balcony door is a thin curtain and also a thick sun blocking curtain that extend all the way and are manually operated.
The bathroom is looking a little bit tired and will soon be in need of an upgrade but it its job and there was hot water available all the time.
Breakfast time runs from 6.00am through to 10.00am and it is absolutely superb. Cereal consists of, Corn flakes, all bran, oatmeal muesli, and choc pops with fat and low fat milk. Drinks consist of water, orange juice, pineapple juice, tomato juice, guava juice and lemon iced tea. Fruits consists of watermelon, jackfruit, paw paw and another of which I am not familiar of the name. Vegetables consist of beans, peas, corn, carrots, potatoes, cabbage and a variety of others. Up to two or three chefs are working the area and they will gladly cook for you your eggs and omelettes any way you desire and bring them directly to your table. There is also a large assortment of hot foods, including, pancakes, limes, curry puffs, seafood, soup, chicken, fish, pork and a variety of other dishes. Believe me, you will not be hungry after leaving the breakfast area, which is located downstairs in the open coffee shop and it is a beautiful setting, as you look out onto the pool and through the gardens. There is a large fanned smoking seated area and a secured no smoking air conditioned seated area if you choose.
The gardens and swimming pool are very nice with a children’s pool, a large adult pool that goes from 1m to 2.5m in depth and a very large Jacuzzi that finishes at 6.00pm. The pool hours are from 7.00am through to 8.00pm at night and large fluffy towels are supplied at the pool. There are number of seats shaded by umbrella’s and full bar and restaurant service is available throughout the day. The garden area is very large with child playing facilities at the bottom of the garden. There is a small lake with large carp and three or four cabana’s in the lake that you can sit in an relax throughout the day. Another good thing is that you can walk directly onto the beach/road from the hotel and there is a guard posted at the entrance /exit for security purposes.
The Montien also has theme buffest nights, I think on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday nights, which consist of seafood, bbq and Mediterranean food nights. The cost is around 550baht ++ and we attended the seafood night. The food, service and atmosphere are absolutely stunning and are first class all the way. This buffet evening meal will have you on cloud nine and it is not to be missed. (Check pattayamail.com for food reviews)
Room service on level 6 is superb and I believe it would be the same for all floors. Rooms were made up twice a day with new towels provided in the late afternoon if required. First class effort to the housekeeping, keep up the good work.
We checked out around 11.30am and it was smooth and effortless with a small amount to pay for the use of the phone and mini bar facilities.
Summary: Excellent value for the money and we will be definitely returning to stay at the Montien Hotel in Pattaya.
I am not in any way associated with the Montien Hotel Pattaya, I am real and exist and can be contacted at sydneypi@bigpond.net.au Enjoy your stay, you will be impressed. Tony.
