very good hotel

Just stayed 10 nights at Baumanburi. Very good. Modern clean hotel. Room good size and comfortable with air conditioning, fridge, kettle and lots of tv channels. Excellent location -- 10 mins on foot to beach and, in other direction, 10 mins to Bangla nightlife and Jungceylon shopping. If you go to bed early and don't want late-night cabaret in bed, request a room on the other side to the Hard Rock Cafe! Great, long courtyard pool. Bubble features and water massage but, because shaded by trees/buildings, water cooler than the warm sea. Very pleasant Happy Hour, 5-7pm -- 2 for 1 cocktails (around160 baht) and Chang/Leo beer (75 baht). Fabulous buffet breakfast: fresh fruit (water melon, pineapple, papaya, small local bananas), cereals, croissants/pastries and hot dishes (eggs/ham or Thai fried rice/chicken/fish/curry). Restaurant also had good steak special (soup/hot roll; sirloin steak/salad/fries; fresh fruit) for 299 baht. For Thai food, excellent non-touristy Isaan restaurant just 2 side streets away ("Lap ped", at bottom of Welcome Inn, near Shaker's).
Hotel staff helpful and friendly. Only problem, a shower which sometimes flooded part of the bathroom. Internet available (200 baht for 2 hours). Also, newspapers and a wide selection of books -- in Finnish!! Other guests a massive mixture of Russians, Australians, Chinese and Koreans. Hotel 45 mins from Phuket airport (taxi 650-750 baht).
Very enjoyable stay. Phuket is great. Would recommend.

Not worth the money!

We booked at Baumanburi after friends stayed there years ago and reading the reviews. It was horrible! The rooms were dirty, old and smelly. The wing we stayed at (2210) was noisy particularly at night as the noise travelled in the courtyard below. The bathrooms were old and having a shower was very difficult as the water sprayed the entire room due to the absence of a shower screen/curtain. The toilet was rusty and smelly. There was no couch in the room and the breakfast was basic and tasteless. The pictures on the net look deceiving as the pool area is the nicest thing about the place. No free wifi or internet which is the norm else where. Phone calls are 100TB/1 minute to Bangkok - rip off! The location was very good but so many other places nearby that offer better value for money.

Friendly

This hotel it is lovely. Staff helpful and friendly. All ages there from honeymooner to a normal person who travelled alone over 65 years old for me what I want I get, the manger tried to give me a deluxe room but I was happy,view around you with trees and the pool in the middle magic ,food fantastic they caring for every nationality. Hot and cold, ask for your eggs how you like it? U will get it. Honest I recommend it to all ages with this price you will be very happy. Thanks to asiarooms.com who always recommend good hotels

Great hotel to stay in

Great hotel to stay in. If you book, book deluxe or above as the superior rooms are close to the hard rock hotel, which has a live band playing most nights till about 10.30. The rest of the hotel is fine. The rooms were of a good standard and cleaned daily. Breakfast does get a little boring with the same thing day in and day out. There is also no bacon.

Our first time.

1st time to phuket. Hotel was good. Breakfast was ok. Customer service was helpful to get us check in a little bit early but the way they talked is a bit unfriendly. Few mins walk to the beach. Hard rock is just opp the hotel. Bike rental and tour booth is nearby. Infact u can find it anywhere the area. Overall was ok but would like to try other hotel if i were to come again to phuket.

Stayed ten days

Baumanburi is at the south end of Patong, and considering Patong is the liveliest of the areas, it was extremely quiet. This was helped by the layout, which is off the road, and a quadrangle with all rooms facing in to the pool area. Our room was large, clean and well appointed, attractive and with it's own balcony. Staff were fantastic, as Thai staff almost always are, always friendly and available if required. The breakfasts were great, with the usual selection of ham, sausage, toast, croissants, cereals etc, but what I particularly liked was the egg station which had a constant supply of fresh cooked eggs to pick up and walk away. Pool area was fine, with smaller pools for the littlies, and a wet bar for the adults. All in all, I did not find anything to fault with this hotel, and can genuinely recommend it to anyone. At this price (we paid US$45 or so per night) we will definitely stay here again.

2nd Year in a row

This is the second time we have stayed in this hotel, both being for 3 weeks. We love its proximity to everything from shopping to the beach and nice restaurants. The pool is great and is fantastic for young kids. Staff are friendly and enjoy having children around. The rooms are a little dated, but are kept well by the amazing housekeeping staff. My main disappointment lies with the breakfast. It caters mainly for Asian guests and does not offer an American Style buffet breakfast. My other complaint is that we had heavy smokers that were smoking next door in a "non smoking" room and it filtered through the air conditioning thus making our room smell like a smokers room. Our numerous complaints were not dealt with appropriately in my opinion. Overall, a great hotel for the price....

Dissapointed

Arrived at hotel first appearances were good. But Pro`s * Good family friendly pool. Good size room. Good location walking distance to most of Patongs main attractions. Pool bar Snacks drink prices fair.. Con`s. * Staff !! Not all but the majority are either dis-intersested or rude and struggle with simple requests. * food being the buffet breakfast very average to the point some of our group did not even bother some days. Food plain and some items even stale or appeared recycled. Room cleaning was terrible something forgotten everyday from toiletries to towels and cleaning of a terrible standard. Only 1 key attached to a large power stick per room became an inconviencance when members of group want to seperate. Ask for extra key and what a drama that was. Very old school. Got to the point where the staffs attitude would have made us change Hotels but for the fact of pre-paying. This place needs a good shake up and need to remember the customers are number one. Happy customers happy staff and the rest is easy. We will Never stay there again Patong has too many options to go through that again.

Great value hotel

This is my second time staying at the Baumanburi hotel. Both stays have been fantastic. The hotel has a massive pool that winds around palm trees and beach lounges. The pool is always sparkling clean and refreshing and is worth a good part of the day just relaxing there in the sunshine. Poolside in the evenings is also lovely with all the coloured lights that eluminate the area - Beautiful. The swim-up bar is excellent. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Buffet breakfast offered Asian dishes to western breakfasts so there is something for everyone although the jam scrolls and the doughnuts were slightly weird - haha!. The staff are polite and friendly. The location of the hotel is perfect, as it is a short walk to all the main markets, beach and nightlife. Love, love, love this hotel!
