We spent 4 days in May 2007...
We spent 4 days in May 2007 at Dusit Laguna. Eventhough we booked a room for triple use we had only a normal Kingsize room (seaview) with an extra bed, which made the room too small for the 3 of us. Service was good and staff were helpful. Beach and garden/pool areas are well maintained and give no reason to complain. Not favourable during out time were that restaurants were not available for normal guest since they were booked out by companys for their internal events (i.e. you had to go to other Hotels in Laguna area or outside Laguna area for certain food). To go outside the Laguna area is not easily done (especially with small child) and quite expensive. Also the various phone calls by estate agents directly to our room were quite an annoyance.

Great place, great location, friendly staff, nice and clean rooms, comfy beds, good breakfast-buffet-> all in all: very recommendable ! We'll go again.

We stayed at the Dusit Laguna for...
We stayed at the Dusit Laguna for 10 days at the end of April 2007. All I can say is that it was absolutely fantastic. We splashed out a little and went for a club room. You will not be disappointed - it is easily worth the money. The rooms are much classier and you get a fantastic service. There are nice touches like afternoon tea - served where you like and complimentary drinks in the early evening. The hotel is beautiful and in my opinion by far the nicest in the Laguna resort (bar Banyan Tree - which is a different kind of place - being more private with separate villas). The location is the best amongst the Laguna Resorts having its own frontage across the beach. There is a nice combo of having local restaurants and huts on the beach outside, which means that there are always options to eat out of the hotel and very cheap prices. This means that the hotels do not have a complete monopoly on food and drink. Bang Tao bay is a stunning beach. The staff at the Dusit were fantastic. It is basically a 1st class hotel. Bang Tao is approx 20mins taxi ride from more of the action in Patong. This is a bonus because if you really want the action in town you easily can - but you have the quietness when back at the hotel. If you are thinking of booking it - then do it! You will have a great time.

Pros Nice hotel, nice beach, very friendly personnel, excellent food but expensive compared to Thailand. Overall rating: it is a place you can recommend without hesitation. Car rental at the beach: it is worth bargaining. The cheapest car you can get for about THB 800 per day. Do not expect too much car. But to drive accross the island it is sufficient. Cons Basically nothing. There are two minor issues worth mentioning. 1. You should not participate (waste your time) with the offer to participate at the timeshare plans. Actually, if you are really interested you can get the timeshareing much cheaper in the internet. 2. At checkout you cannot get a public taxi. At the gate there are some people who drive you to the airport for about THB 500.

I was a bit wary when they...
I was a bit wary when they said that building work was being done at the side of the hotel. Our room was as near as you could get to the building work and I must say it did not bother us at all. It was not noisey, in fact there was more noise from the croaking frogs from the lagune. We thought the staff at the hotel were lovely, always had a smile and a greeting for you and they were extremely helpful. It was by birthday whilst I was there and I received a birthday cake in the room (which was completely unexpected as neither myself or my husband had let them know when it was). It was just the finishing touches that made our holiday perfect. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is nicely located in a...
The hotel is nicely located in a secluded area on the beach. The staff were attentive and friendly. I stayed there with a friend in April which was a low season. We spent most of our time in the hotel and ate in some of the restuarants in the hotel. Unfortunately we got food poisoned one night and the hotel was very apologetic about it. It sent us a complementary fruit basket (which is nice but defintiely insensitive given the condition we were in). The spa in the hotel was very nice and it was quite an experience to have a body treatment there. The downside of the hotel is that there is no metered taxis available. We had to use the taxis provided by the hotel which are more expensive (about Thai Baht 600 flat rate to patong and the airport) than local taxis. But coming from the Uk, this rate is still relatively cheap.

The best hotel for the value on...
The best hotel for the value on Bang Tao Beach! We loved it. It's perfect for families with kids and vacationers. Not too noisy and plenty to do. My daughter loved the kids club and the pool side lunch was perfect.

Superb hotel and superb location. Grounds, pool, adjacent beach and all facilities excellent. Breakfast inclusive which was very good but price of hotel meals exhorbitant for Thailand - could get at HALF the price or less at many good beach side restaurants and just as good. Also watch that service and VAT NOT included in hotel meal prices. Drinks and fruit on beach and grounds MUCH cheaper from beach stalls. We particularly liked Lotus restaurant on beach to north. If you book they will collect you. Also a few restaurants in village at entrance to laguna complex. Liked laguna resort - went on the shuttle boat around lagoons and bus to explore. Unless interested avoid the 'time share' boat and the unsolicited phone call. We particularly liked the beautifully clean virtually private beach by hotel, free beds etc and water sports - and the elephants every evening. Got the hotel bus to Patong once - that was enough! Upset though that taxis 450baht airport to resort but 600 baht back - that's just taking a liberty ! Canal shops convenient but expensive - captive market I suppose. Thoroughly enjoyed our break and highly recommend hotel - we learnt from others re the above reservations and now happy to share with others.
