We were disappointed at our stay at Amora resort for a number of reasons. The low point of our stay was when the power went out for many hours. When we asked why some rooms appeared to have power and some didn't, we were dealt with rudely by reception staff and made to feel as if we were telling lies.
Unfortunately there is also very little to do around the resort and anything requires travel, with expensive taxi rides into the main town charing 200 Baht, one way, to go about 1.5 kilometres to the nearest place where there is something to do.
They offered bicycles at the resort to be able to ride to places, but the tyres were flat, the chain fell off the cog and it was barely ride-able! This left the only affordable transportation our own feet.
There is an over-priced 'cafe' style place to eat on the beach which appears to be profiteering from the isolation of the resort, with expensive laundry service and food and drink prices.
There was a never-ending presence of mosquitos in the resort and even in the rooms, and we had to put a mosquito coil in our room and spray ourselves with repellant to be able to sleep at night. There was no mosquito net available.
On the plus side, the pool was clean and large and we enjoyed swimming in it which made up for the beach which had jelly-fish (and we weren't sure if these were harmful or not), making us keen not to go in the water.
