A nice and different hotel with it's pool design.

Great hotel in a perfect location. 5 minutes walk to the beautiful beach, lots of shops, restaurants and bars passed on the way.
Rooms are spacious (superior pool view) and bathrooms clean and well stocked. Grounds and pools fantastic.
Free drinking water daily and mini bar very cheap. Breakfast is ample and very good.
Polite and friendly staff who were always available to advise. Efficient and good value airport transfers and taxis around the island from the hotel lobby.
My new favourite hotel in Phuket. I will definitely stay here again.
This is a great hotel located only...
This is a great hotel located only a few minutes from the shops and beach. On our arrival we got a free upgrade to a 'delux pool access' room which was great.
The rooms are great, two bottles of free water each day (though the 6 litre bottles are only about 60baht so that beats carrying one home from the shops), good breakfasts and friendly staff. Great hotel if you have kids as there are ramps and a lift for pushchair access. Staff are very 'children friendly'. Great pool area (two main pools and a paddling pool) with a bar IN the pool.
Some tips:
- Walking time to modern shops beach about five minutes,
- To hire a beach bed and umbrella costs 100 baht on the beach,
- Hotel provides free beach towels, and free shuttle to beach if you want,
- Hotel taxi from hotel to airport costs 700 baht,
- Room service menus reasonably priced
- Everything you need is at Kata, eg shops, motorbike hire, tuk tuks, tourist activities, cafes etc.
Cons:
- Some staff not the best at English (not a problem though),
- The local shops won't negotiate much for items (when compared to Patong),
Bottom line is, we'll stay there again when we come back to Phuket.

Just returned (November 06) from this hotel, my wife and I stayed for a week. The deluxe pool view rooms we stayed in the new wing are fab, (ask for a room in this wing). If your budget will stretch to a pool access room these are even better. The hotel is a 5 minute walk to the beach which is a flat walk, The beach is fantastic, traders tout on the beach but a polite no thanks is all they need to move on, they are not in your face. There is building work going on near the hotel but this did not effect our stay in any way. no noise. The swimming pool is designed around the garden and is fantastic, not for serious swimmers who want to plough up and down but a fantastic piece of work. The service was A1 nothing being a problem, even if they don't quite understand queens English, you will get a beautiful smile and they will do their best. Hotel food is excellent and affordable and I would return any time in sunny season. The hotel is about 25 mins south of Patong beach by taxi/Tuk tuk and after being in Kata, Patong is like Bangkok with a beach!! Overall Kata is a great smaller hotel, good location, great value.

This hotel is perfect! For the price you never know what to expect but kata palm didn't dissapoint. The rooms are lovely, staff friendly, pool amazing and location perfect too. I imagine in the high seaseon there would probably be a few kids about, but this place would be great for families and couples.

Initially, we tried to book other hotels on Kata beach through Asiarooms and end-up with a Deluxe pool view in the Kata Palm Resort Hotel around end of Feb 06. The hotel was nice, with an original big swimmimg pool inside. Our room was big, nicely decorated with Thai style furnitures and had a view on the swimming pool. The breakfast was good, with many choices, altought mostly aimed at Western people (bread, sausages, eggs, bacon, fruits...). The beach was 10 minutes away by walk, or 2 minutes away with the hotel shuttle (free!). And next to the hotel, there were many restaurants (for locals and tourists) and shops.
Kata beach is much better than Patong, more family oriented, since it's not too deep, much cleaner, with crystal water, and less tourists... However, it was still difficult for us to find some available chairs on the beach during that time. We did some snorkelling and saw many fishes near the rocks.
The only drawbacks of the hotel is that no rooms had view on the beach. Club Med is right in front of the beach, and occupy most of the space. Most of the other hotels are around the Club Med. When we come out of the hotel, we can only see walls, and had to walk around or take the hotel shuttle to go to the beach. But that was not a big issue.
Overall, we were happy with this hotel, which is very good for family with children, but also for couples.

i stayed twice at kata palm from 8 dec to 21 dec then from 1 jan 2006 till 14 and i must stay that i really enjoyed it, the staff is really nice, charming, friendly, i didnt book for the 2nd time,it was full... they went out of their way to get me a room and i had a big discount, even if it was holiday season there, i definitely will fo back there it is smack near the beach aznd retired from main road and very quiet, there is some building that is going to gzt underway very soon so better check before going i think they are waiting for the end of dseason to start
I was looking for a mid-priced place...
I was looking for a mid-priced place and so had mid-priced expectations, but the room I was given far exceeded them: very big, very clean and beautifully decorated in Thai style. Loved the deep standalone soaker tub. Staff was helpful and pleasant. Easy walk to beach, past shops, restaurants, ATMs. Convenient.

Definetely the best place for money I ever stayed in Phuket. Highly recommended: clean and big rooms, very friendly staff, good location, free internet at lobby. Will visit Kata Palm Resort again in july 2005.

This is a very nice place to stay. Great location and easy access to the beach. You won't find a better deal for the money. Rooms are very clean and air conditioning superb.
Very nice quiet location.
Try it you will definitely come back. I have been travelling to Phuket for the past 15 years
